*sigh & blush*
Sorry for double-posting this. I wanted to change some things that didn't make sense after I got to thinking and, well, it wouldn't let me do it without removing the old one. Sorry for the inconveience.
As some of you may have already seen, though, this is a special story I wrote for my wife today. We have been talking about the concept of complacency lately and what causes such a situation to happen. So, as a challenge, I thought I'd write a fantasy story in regard to our discussion as a present. Kind of like a collaboration, if you will.
I hope you all like it. It's written in another challenging way, for me anyway, in that it is a story being told in a story. By this, I mean the mamma dragon is always telling the story with no BREAKS to allow the story to tell itself.
Oh, and as you noticed, it is also MORE than one page. My apologies. I wanted it to be special for my wife. The next one will be ONLY ONE PAGE. Promise. ;)

Hehe, that's not the kind of bed time story or children's fable you hear every day. :3 Or really often at all. But it's true! I think it'd be a good story though, because, well I at least know my sister and some of my other gal pals have been in a relationship like that. They'd just let the guy they were with tell her what she could and couldn't do, and kinda changed them into a different person because of who he thought they would be best. But it wasn't really who they were, and luckily after they dumped this kind of boyfriend, they felt a lot more liberated, and hopefully won't do the same thing again. :3
People can let others control who they are easier than we'd think, especially if the other person matters a lot to you.
I like that you don't make it seem like I have to be any sorta certain thing - just myself. (:

Yup, yup! Actually, I may never have written this if my wife didn't buy me "Pinnochio" for my birthday. I watched it when I was like, seven, and when I watched it with my son I was like "Holy Hamster Wheels!" The material in it was far from what I ever remembered being "Disney-Esque."
Then I remembered how, in the old days, stories like that were told to keep young children from straying off the straight-and-narrow path. So, as I am enjoying playing with fantasy in this series of fun, I opted to utilize this freedom in writing the bedtime story the mother dragon would tell her son. It's a bit intense, but drives the point home a lot harder. Just like, if I dare say, in "Pinnochio."
Ditto there, Ox. The best way to be is yourself. I have never in my life been a fan of wearing masks. I'm glad to have a friend like you that I can honestly be 100% myself. People in this category are so few in OL and RL that I can count them on ONE hand. So, as you can imagine, it's a very treasured feeling to be so free with a creative and collaborative colleague like yourself.

Hehe, that makes me want to watch and play more old videos/games from back in the day. :3 Just like how Zelda touched me again when I played it years after, it looks like Pinocchio had an effect on you too! It's neat that we can like something years before we really understand what's going on. (:
Woop woop! You know it. :D Haha.

Oh, MJ, you have no idea how happy hearing such a comment makes me! *Leaps about merrily* This was such a new concept for me to try and to know that it actually came out well goes beyond every expectation I ever had for it.
Thanks so much for reading and helping me become better at what I so love to do. Without you, and everyone else who actively follows my work, I would never be able to evolve and grow despite my current employment situation. This means the world to me. It really does.

Wow.. for a three page story that was pretty deep. I was totally surprised with how it ended too. It's a little sad that the healer thought that the knight loved him the way two couples would. He had me fooled as well, (lol) and then out of the blue we see what's really going on. The Mommy Dragon telling the whole story to her child was a plus too. 3 pages isn't too bad. The stories are short enough to read in a few minutes but long enough for a semi-complex story like this. Nice work!
Thank you! I wanted it to be only one page like the others. However, as it was a gift, I felt I needed to give it just a bit more effort to show how serious I was about writing the concept out.
You really hit the nail on the head, too. Long stories are great, but too time consuming for people to read. Shorter stories, particular one-to-two pagers, are far less intimidating and, I feel, more viable to read.

It's amazing how powerful the gift of hindsight is. On a personal level, I fell into the complacency trap many years ago and it took my father and my soon-to-be wife to get me out of it. The scariest part is that, without their help, I would've likely ended up just like the character read about in this story. Yipes!
The above noted, I have found the concept of complacency, (aka: one's comfort zone) to be an issue that few realize they have become trapped within untiil its too late and, by then, those who have fallen victim to it lack the internal drive to do anything about it.
Fortunately, in most cases, good friends and family tend to be around to lend that proverbial "kick in the rump neccessary to get us back on track to bigger and better things. :)

That's a most interesting scenario. Though, I guess the real question if you are unsure is whether-or-not you feel you are still making progress toward your goals in life. If you can look at yourself now and see a path, or plan, unfolding before you that gives you a sense of inner joy, accomplishment, or hope, you have nothing to worry about.
On the flip-side, if you look inside of yourself and feel a sense of sadness, or entrapment, you may want to take a moment and figure out why it is you feel this way and begin formulating a strategy to get you to where you wish to go. :)
Regardless of either circumstance, friends and family are good sources of either continuing the momentum or picking up where you last left off. Oopa! :)

I'm not sure, I feel as though everything has stopped, and I am just stuck actually. My path is shrouded in mist and I'm not sure if I know my goals. You are right, I should take some time out to figure things out. I just feel...like I lost my way or something. Or there are many paths to take and I can seem to pick one.
You are right, my family will help me through my struggles. <:3
Thank you Yosh-E-O.
