Species: Kansen 感染 (Infection / Contagion)
As of right now, this is a closed species until I know this species fully.
Backstory:
Kansen's are a species that are spread out all throughout the world they live in, or, this world we live in. They tend to live alone, but it is not uncommon for them to start a pack if two or more Kansen's meet. Due to their usual solitary, they are known for being very independent and strongly built as well as strong minded. Depending on the environment a Kansen lives in will determine their coloration and markings.
Body:
A Kansen's most prized possession is actually something that is apart of their body ever since birth. They have a huge and heavy gem growing from their chest and on top of their front paws. These can glow, depending on the environment, but will commonly be the same color as their eyes.
For an unknown reason, Kansen's will quite literally adapt to the environment they live in. During their teenage years, they will start to grow parasitic entities sprouting from their bodies. While some think this hurts the species, it actually helps their immune systems and body strength.
Another main part of Kansen's are their skulls. It is unknown why they wear these as masks, and even more unknown how they all do it despite usually being a solitary species. These masks are quite often decorated, males more than females.
Their bodies are short in feral form, but their long and big tails make up for that. The tails also help for balance and speed. A Kansen's upper body is much bigger compared to their lower body, having huge forearms, paws, and claws. These huge forearms allow them to have extreme upper body strength, climb very easily, and are actually quite fast despite their weight.
Differences:
Males are known to have a "mane", bigger bodies as a generality, smaller ears, longer skull masks, and more decorated skull masks.
Females are known to have only neck fluff, smaller bodies as a generality, bigger ears, shorter skull masks, have "extra" parasites that grow on their hind legs, and are known to bind their tails for decoration.
