Thank you SO much, hon! I think that I'm to the point where black & white, inked pieces on "fun paper" are my favorite way of working. I can work pretty quickly this way, for some reason; I'm not sure why!
When I work this way, I feel productive. When I'm done with a picture, I already feel ready to move on to another one, instead of feeling like I need to take a break- It's crazy!
I'd like to learn how to apply some sort of coloring technique to this style, but right now I have very little idea as to how I could make it work.. Any ideas? :)
And thanks, too, for that; I do like working "darker". Cute can, of course, be fun as well. I guess I like variety!

Variety is all good - it helps to keep you motivated and interested You're certainly putting out a fair few of these, so it's obvious you're enjoying it (like a new toy?) As for being able to colour them, I really don't know - hell, I only just found out from you the other day that you could get white ink pens! Although if you can get white ink like that, can you get other colours that would also show up so you could accent things?
I'm sure those that are commissioning you to work on these pieces are also happy about the results, I know I certainly would be Are you doing any of these sorts of pictures for yourself? Do you do art for your own enjoyment or amusement at all?

Well, to be perfectly honest, this is not the first time I've done black and white inking on tinted paper. I used to do it quite a bit, but only recently have I tried to achieve results without even considering putting color on top of it. For some reason, my art feels "free"; I do not feel weighed down about having to make a variety of decisions based on the coloring process. It does save a LOT of time. Hm..
Inking pens in a variety of colors; Yes! That is a wonderful idea, thank you! I'm not sure what brands would be the best to go with, though; I've never really delved into inks of other colors other than black and white. (Although I have considered it for a long time)
I've also considered starting to add colored pencil back into my ink-work. In the past, my coloring technique with pencils has always battled against my inking technique; One wants to dominate the other. Usually, I end up trying to use the pencils too much, and they would end up over-powering / covering up the ink. (At least, that sure seemed to be what was happening..)
I am doing some for myself, but in the form of gifts. I missed being able to make quick gifts for others, and now that I have a way of working relatively quickly, I can go back to it! (I'm also making one for you. ) I'll also buckle down and allow myself more "me" art. I rarely ever draw just for myself anymore, out of habit. I think I get more amusement and joy out of drawing for others, though!
(Sorry for the super long reply!)
