Commissioned painted reference piece created by
sugarboy .
It is strange that my character/persona "Nyst" is a character that is over eight years old (as of this submission) and yet has had no reference piece of his original anthropomorphic self.
Well, that is finally fixed thanks to the artist Sugarboy. I am extremely thankful to him. He worked extra on this and also was very collaborative with me in the commissioning process. Not only do I like Sugarboy's painting in general, but the "Nyst" text in the reference is actually something he handmade. I personally thought it was a special font used, but not in this case, which is wonderful. I love it. :)
I think Nyst's lack of a reference piece has contributed to his evolution in appearance over the years. For example, as a "silver" dragon his scales were originally more gray in hue, but as time went on and through various artists (and perhaps to create synergy with his blue eyes and blue gem) his skin has become "bluer" to the point that it might be easier to call him a "blue" dragon nowadays. Or, at least in my mind, a "silver-blue" dragon. His horns have also changed, the style of his hair has changed some, and his general, er, girth has certainly changed. Part of these changes are certainly due to me, of course, and not just the different artists.
This particular reference has many aspects of past Nyst pictures all combined together to create this anthro version, too. Basically features that I liked. Sugarboy executed this combination perfectly.
varanisridari also had an influence in encouraging this version of Nyst to be depicted.
All this being said, one thing that has never changed over the years is Nyst's personality. He's playful, joyful, mystical, and benevolent. Strong in body and warm in spirit. He may be a big fellow, but he's a totally nice softie on the inside; a handsome hulk hunk who is great to have around.
