Even though one would say it is unrealistic I actually like fights where each party has talents/abilities/powers (it is even more interesting if said abilities have weaknesses). To me it is a true expression of individuality if someone can come to a match with more than just fists, wits and weapons.
Shows like Naruto and DBZ where the powers have more character than the users are jokes to me. On the other hand Bleach is a show where the characters have their own personalities, strengths and weaknesses along with interesting powers that have a tendency to match the personality of the user.
So love it or hate it, that is your choice.

As someone who loves combat, I just don't get the quasi-magical powers thing. How do I know who has the greater power? What IS the power? It seems like most the time it literally just pushes people around. I just think it's so far removed from any aspect of human experience that it's an odd little vacuum unto itself, but hey, if folks like it, that's cool. And god love the Japanese for introducing so many odd little surreal elements to our entertainments. I consider Asians to literally be further evolved than the rest of us backward primates.
Lol, yeah, but without being all emo, whiney, and lame like Cyclops :p Actually, he can make those 'lasers' fire from anywhere around him, not just the eyes. He can control Brimstone (a specific smoke brewed from hell that happens to be created inside of a special organ within his brood of demon) on a molecular level telepathically, therefore by grouping a mass of the smoke in a specific area and rubbing the molecules fast enough, the heat generated would start forming high-level energy. By releasing one of the boundries mentally established around the heating energy, it "shoots" out like a laser :3

you would be surprised at how much common sense is lacking in some people...

Pretty much, yes :p Back when I was RP'ing with him in Furcadia in a dueling guild, people kept calling me a "Power Gamer" and all that, but it's not my fault that I happen to know enough about science and physics that I can alter things. I took more damage then quite a few people in that game, and I was one of the few characters to DIE, yet I was still a "power gamer" and "God Moder". -.- Seriously, dont have the player, hate the game.

I still have yet to understand the mechanics of battle in that game. If you know about something, you're not a power gamer, but simply intelligent and clever. Lots of 'idiots' claim others to be power gamers simply because they can't do what the others can do. I think it's common really. Irritating too. One reason I DO NOT have an XBOX and Halo.
Something to do with the dice system that they implemented, though it's so long ago I forgot completely. True, I mean unless your cheating or there's no rules that keep things on a playing field, there's really nothing behind 'power gaming'. I mean I didnt call the guy that hopped on Halo 2 and took on a group of 4, didnt die, and got every point in the game a "power gamer", he won fair and square. I called him a nerd for being THAT damn good at Halo and got some nachos. Everyone had their laugh, and he had his victory trophy for winning ^_^
