Every bird stared in awe and astonishment as Red kept growing, not only taller, but also in power.
His body, until then in a normal shape, was now a swelling mass of rock hard pecs, abs, lats and traps. His arms were similarly turning into massive pillars of might.
And the pleasure he felt kept growing too.
As his height brought him to the same level than the summit of the mountain, he saw Mighty Eagle staring at him in astonishment.
"Hiya," he just said with a smile.
"Wha... Bwuh..." stammered Eagle.
Red couldn't help but laugh, a booming sound that shook the entire island.
Eagle, as for him, just kept staring at the titanic bird... until he saw the still glowing mark on his right arm.
"That mark?! No, it cannot be!!"
He quickly took off and managed to reach Red's face.
"Where does that mark come from?!" he yelled as loud as possible to be sure of being heard.
Surprised at the outburst, Red explained everything: the cave he found by accident, the ruins inside, the altar with the same mark, the pain...
"You know what that is?"
"If I know what that is?! Kid, this is the Mark of Rovio!!"
A beat.
"Who?" finally asked Red.
"You don't know who Rovio is?!" exclaimed Eagle. "Gah, what do they teach you these days..."
Red rolled his eyes discreetly - well, discreetly for a still growing giant.
"According to legends, Rovio is the God of Anger," explained Eagle. "During a dark period, far in the past, where the birds were under a dire threat, they prayed for a god to help them, and he answered their prayer. Using the strength of their anger against the threat, he gave them amazing powers. He then left, saying his gift would be transmitted through the generations, but not to all, and that only the strength of anger could awake them."
Red was very surprised at this story... but it explained how Chuck was superfast, how Bomb exploded like that, and all the other strange abilities some birds manifested. It was something he always wondered about.
"And he also said," continued Eagle, "that the anger would eventually fade, but would return to all one day. Sometimes after that day, the angriest of all birds would receive the greatest of all powers: his Mark, allowing to tap in his divine power."
"So, short version, I'm now blessed by a god?!"
"That sums it up just fine."
Red was completely flabbergasted, but also pretty pleased and proud about this idea (who could blame him?).
As all this conversation kept going, Red had kept growing, so much that he cast a shadow on the island, and his muscles had swollen to monstrous masses of power. He felt he could rip the island off the ground with one hand effortlessly, and so much more.
He could also feel the start of a control over this power, meaning he'd be able to turn back to normal at will, eventually.
Well, in the meanwhile, I'm going to enjoy it as much as possible! he thought, flexing a humongous biceps, bigger than the island and still growing like all the rest of his body, and smiling a cocky smile.
And another thought came in his mind.
You'd better never come back, piggies, because you'd be in for a bad surprise!
And there's the second part everyone was waiting for!
Oh, Red, had you known what would happen soon, you probably wouldn't have thought that last thought...
