Millie had been dubious about going on a date with one of her greatest friends. But after much debate with herself and ribbing from her closest girlfriends, all of whom had said "Whats the worst that can happen" She had agreed to said outing.
Treblemaker, or "T" as Millie called him had arranged the whole thing. They spent the entire afternoon at the fair playing games and having more fun than Millie could remember having in a very long time.
Still laughing from the silliness of their last game, Millie was dragged, hand in hand to the last ride of the evening. The fairground growing dark with the night sky, illuminated by the moonlight they entered the love tunnel. With the stalls shutting shop Millie was to distracted to read the entrance sign and so entered the tunnel completely unaware of the ride she was about to become a part of.
T entered the long necked swan boat before her and helped her down, knowing her unsteadiness was mainly due to her distaste to water. I know. A tiger who hated the water. What am I thinking right? Millie can't swim and is fearful okay. She clambered into the boat and snuggled into her friend without thinking of the way it could of been perceived. She was tired after all the fun they'd had and it was peaceful and low lit. Something oddly relaxing and romantic about the whole thing.
The soft ripples of water creating little splash sounds against the giant bird boat, and the wonderfully lit tunnel that made you think of the night sky was ever so pretty, it wasn't until they approached the end of the tunnel and Millie saw the heart shaped exit that it suddenly dawned on her the meaning of the ride.
This wasn't a ride that just friends would go on. This was like a date. a proper date date.
As if sensing Millie's sudden realization T turned his body. Millie feeling his movement moved with him and in doing so brought her nose right into his. Nose to nose the two stared at each other. Shock, confusion and uncertainty of all varieties flying around, making the pair completely still and breathless. Nose to nose until the ride ended....
I don't write stories well. But oh well
