This is a gift story for

Thanks very much for the kind words. :) I'm not sure yet, after all, this is the end of the trilogy. Of course, there's enough threads left open so that it could be continued, but that all depends on if the right idea comes up. He could come back, or maybe not. :)

That was perfect ending for the story, though I lost track at one point. However, not a problem; I LOVE this story! And that scene with you and Blaze was heart warming and very romantic.

Initially I had planned to have the phoenixes intervene at some point, though later on it felt clumsy, so I removed it. If there's a part 4 or a second trilogy, it'll give me someplace to go. Also, Marroquin and Lucy are not accounted for at the end, so they're still active threads as well.

I'm glad you liked it, I figured part 3 was an appropriate time to get Blaze and Lauren together, I tried to plant hints of sexual tension and an underlying attraction in the first two parts to build up to it, I think I succeeded. :)

Early on I had planned to give the phoenix council characters names, but it later turned out not to be necessary. I had enough characters already, and while I felt the scene was necessary, I didn't really find it necessary to keep them in the story.
You know, I think this is the first all anthro stories I've written in a while. Usually I use humans so as to avoid the furry centricness of some universes, or the tendency to make them all 'the enemy', but it was a nice change of pace. :)

I put humans as the enemy, and some allies, because I understand human nature; fear of everything incomprehendable, and obsession for domination, though fortunately not all humans are like. That's why I made War of Man and Anthro, or in the case of the rewrite, Anthro Heroes REBORN.
And what I mean is, putting both humans and anthros in a story is a good way to make it good on a site like this. I put humans as the enemy, and some allies, because I understand human nature; fear of everything incomprehendable, and obsession for domination, though fortunately not all humans are like. That's why I made War of Man and Anthro, or in the case of the rewrite, Anthro Heroes REBORN.
Generally I consider anthros and humans to be the same save for their physical appearances. I don't believe in stereotypes, that all members of a race are the same. They're not.
I like to work with the usual rules of the universe, sometimes with a little tweaking. Of course, what I could do with characters like Volcan and Hikari was somewhat limited because of all of their abilities, but I think I found a way to make them both usable.
Of course, one of my human characters that I like to use a lot is Sayenne, she's a psychic that has actually been in two separate series of mine as a regular.

Personally, I think it worked well as a compromise. You know I generally think a lot of your characters are too overpowered to really balance with my design scheme, but I think I got it to work. Hikari was a bit of a challenge with the Shadow Step.
With Volcan, it seems like if he'd really had all his usual abilities, the story wouldn't work nearly as well as it did. After all, I'm big on arcs and building up towards moments, like the cliffhanger at the end of part 2. ;) Those are harder to come up with with very strong characters. :)

Lighris was potentially going to be in part 3, which you may remember I asked about him. However, his role would've only been in the council scene if he was, and I wanted to avoid the brother brother thing.
Though if I do use Voodoo, he'd be severly stripped down powerwise, artistic license and all that. But potentially any continuation would likely deal with the list of the phoenixes that Marroquin still has, Lucy McKane's secret, and so on. Now, it's unlikely Hikari would be in the next installment, though if Lauren and Blazger returned, Lauren would possibly be pregnant....

Well, it just didn't make sense for the reasons listed above to have him be in the council scene. It would've required a great deal more focus on the phoenixes, and this was more about the dragon/kitsune war.
Odds are the only thing I'd keep would be the gun skills, the other things might be there, but in another interpration of them.

Or even the specific details thereof, this is all theoretical. But generally, the kind of characters that get the most screen time in my work is usually plain anthros/humans, sometimes with an ability or two if appropriate.

Heh, humans can surprise you, as you'll see in my Anthro Heroes book. I feature my human characters in there as well as my anthros. And Tory is the most surprising of all. He has no powers whatsoever, and yet as you saw in War of Man and Anthro, he almost defeated Hikari, the grand daughter of a goddess, when he's a mere mortal.
So yeah, humans can surprise you; you never know what they will throw at you.

Yeah. The thing I've learned about powers is that sometimes they can be hindrances. Sort of like 'why don't they just' sort of questions pop up. The audience wonders why Volcan didn't just burn his way out of any situation or why Hikari doesn't shadow step her way out of jail, etc... If there are beings with known powers, there has to be a counterbalance, ie, special prisons or something like that.
Sort of like how X-Men has the Sentinels and so forth.

That's up to you, but a continuation of this would be good to see what happens afterwords, perhaps even what become of those Volcan was closest to (you know, besides Hikari). Like maybe where Voodoo and Gordon went after Volcan disappeared, or what Lighris did with the rest of his life, or even what become of Volcan's mother, Degra.
Although, what I've got running through my head, is Volcan meeting Lauren after several years pass, and she's long since had a child. How Lauren would react to seeing him after so long, that would be up to you. There's plenty of things you could do, so... yeah. It's up to you.

You know what, I seem to be overflowing with good ideas. :) I may possibly have a sick ass way to do a part 4, but of course I need to polish the idea a bit before it passes the 'viable story' test.
Though if it comes down to it, would you prefer Degra or Lighris, and who is Gordon? Have I heard his name before?

Hm, well, it's unlikely I'd need Gordon for anything. There's a decent chance that Degra, Lighris, or Voodoo could possibly filter into it, though again, we'll see. I'd have to see who the ultimate villian would be in part 4. Now that the trilogy is finished, if there's a continuation there'd need to be a fresh storyline.
As you've seen, I've put together a tentative concept for part 4, since this one might be heavily intensive on some secrets staying secret to the right moment, there's a probability I might need to work out the whole story first, ie, all the parts. No completion date on this one, but did you like where it was going?
Did you read all three? :) I know that Hikari's only in part 2 and 3, but I think it makes a nice trilogy to start at the beginning. :)

*giggles* It was supposed to be earlier in the third installment, but her and Volcan facing off against the dragons while the others broke the machine seemed to work just fine. :) "All I wanted was to a be a nine tailed fox that shits rainbows!" LOL. :)

fox read. this would have been the best place to add Xavier. outside of bird brain's storyies I have Xavier as a war profitier on the side of good. he probable would have made comments to kate and lauren (if added) but would be a perfect asset to the fighting.
I finished the story luv and I have to say it was very very damn good :D The fighting and the war and such was detailed. The romantic love between the both of us. That I enjoyed the most. This was one of yer best 3 part stories ever hun. *holds you closely and kisses once again*
