Sorry, didn't mean to look like I was blowing you off or anything by not replying as soon as possible!
I never really thought of a background for him. He isn't like a character out of a book or has some history but is my graphical representation of my online personality that I use in the furry fandom. I don't think I could ever make a backstory for a character that I use as my avatar though. No matter how well I will pull it off I'd imagine it would come off as being a Mary (Marty) Sue. Even if other people didn't think so I would always have that idea at the back of my mind. As for why I picked this character I would just say it was for aesthetics and I wasn't happy having to draw wings and horns since they either blocked the background or made some positions awkward on my old character.
Besides an interest in the Cold War and wanting to actually put my one semester of Russian I took in university to good use there isn't any deep meaning behind my using Soviet symbols or Cyrillic text in this picture. I picked it just to be edgy or I thought it would be cool for this piece. Like Сови is how you would spell Sovy in Cyrillic. The sickle and hammer is there to add flavour. I normally don't draw didactic pictures with any hidden meaning to them. Sometimes I do but they usually look more like a mess with a furry character thrown in.
