It has finally happened. Miss Mab's comic, Dan and Mab's Furry Adventures (http://www.missmab.com/) has finally hit its 1000th comic strip.
In order to celebrate the occation I've been working on this painted version of her first comic strip for the past few months. I honestly don't even want to think about just how many hours I've sunken into this thing, but I'm glad I did. Even tough I'm also glad that it's now over.
There were a lot of tough choises I had to make while designing this thing. Even tough the basic layout was already provided, I still had to figure out, just what character models and outfits to use, since they have been changing over tha past 10 years of the comic. Especially Dan's wings. Also, I had to decide wether to imitate Miss Mab's art style, or rather go for my own.
I eventually setteled for a sort of mix that's mostly Mab's current style, with a hint of my own touch, peppered with old school outfits.
Also, the wand that Mab's holding in the rightmost panel. I do not think it had ever reappeared since. Defenately not in colour. So I kind of had to improvise on just how it would look.
Overall, I'm pretty happy as of just how this turned out. Especially the middle panel. The left panel's pretty good too. And with the right one, I struggeled for weeks. I must have repained Mab's face on that one at least half a dozen times. Still not quite what I'd want it to be, but I'll settle for what it is now.
