Although he has a different outfit he normally wears, Rolf the Wolf is introducing the next circus act in his orange drum major's uniform as the drummers beat a drum roll. He also leads the circus's marching band during a parade, military tattoo, or whatever occasion.
Rolf the Wolf
Species: Gray Wolf
Alternate name: William Rolf
Age immortalized: 30
Circus occupation: Ringmaster for "Circus of the Superstars," a circus with additional variety elements such as stand-up comedians, musical performances, and stage versions of game shows
Second occupation: Music educator in music shops; he teaches piano, trumpet, saxophone, violin, and percussion
Circus clothing: Red ringmaster's uniform with red top hat and band-style jacket with golden shoulder pads; black pants, black belt, black bowtie
Other clothing: Orange drum major's uniform with matching shako (with white plume and silver musical note as symbol); black suit and pants with red tie; casual red t-shirt with black jeans, or red golf shirt with black khaki pants
Background info: Rolf the Wolf is the most famous furry ringmaster in the world, but due to the fact the Circus of the Superstars never leaves Wildcat City (since it was founded on a tight budget, and continued to do this because groupthink said it was wrong to break tradition), people from all over the world instead travel to Wildcat City to see the shows he leads. He grew up enjoying going to these shows and was determined to be in one himself; he just didn't anticipate being the ringmaster at first, but when he founded the circus at the age of 18, which at the time had just the basics of a circus, it was an immediate sellout succeess, mainly coming from the fact folks had nothing better to do on a Saturday night (and the fact there was no technology to encourage laziness apart from the television set, but Wildcat City frowned upon television from the start with the exception of television game shows). Rolf's idea to make it more a variety element and add comedy and musical performances, and later game show events (which conclude each show), came in the 1960s when folks started complaining about acts that still get fussed at by animal rights activists today (such as lion tamers and tigers jumping through rings of fire). The circus also remains in Wildcat City full time so the performers can work other jobs, and it has changed schedules (since 1970) to every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the month of June; this was done when perfomers asked to have weekends off.
Outside the circus, Rolf works at a music store as a private instructor on piano, trumpet, saxophone, violin, and percussion; with the percussion, it mainly has to do with the melodic instruments (i.e. vibraphone, xylophone, glockenspiel), since that used to be his forte. He has had experience as a drum major, and sometimes leads his marching band in parades other than the circus parades (such as Memorial Day and Fourth of July); his band participated in the parades on the bicentennial (Sunday July 4, 1976), which is where he first met Leo the Patriotic Lion and his tiger counterpart, Tom. (Leo for many years considered that the happiest day of his life.)
Rolf hasn't been able to solve the mystery behind who or what smuggled CNG into his circus one day, which is what immortalized him and all his performers (circus acts and musicians) at the age of 30. What he does know is that in his case, it was a combination of red and black CNG, which is what he references by the fact all his famous clothes are red, black, or both. On appropriate holidays, he will don the patriotic red, white, and blue, and his circus has tons of American flags posted around the performing site, which he hopes is enough to keep Bendraqi away.
As ringmaster, Rolf carries a bullwhip, which he uses mainly to point to the ring the current act is about to perform in.
Superpowers: None
Arch-nemesis: No official enemy, but he has had a few hecklers come at him. Security always gets them after he might attack with his bullwhip.
Personal quote: "I love the circus; it's a fantastic exhibition of the finest acts to all come together on one stage. I just don't want to cause any controversies, so I don't do the lion tamer acts, tigers through fiery rings acts, or elephant acts. I don't want any activists coming after me, and I know Betty White and Bob Barker are two good examples of that because I include game shows in my circus, with my deepest respect to those people." (during an interview)
"I don't want rude and mean performers in my circus pretending to be good; it's way too egotistical. I also don't want my circus making the mistakes the G-52s did; no disrepect to them, of course, but I was worried that their egos were growing given how big a joke Bendraqi has become. But then again, what if that was his intention, to boost their egos until they burst like a balloon?" (during an interview)
Circus catchphrases: "Step right up! Step right up, and see the greatest show in Wildcat City!"
"And now, for our next act..." (insert act)
"And to conclude, we present tonight's game show..." (insert show title)
"Bring on the set!" (after introducing game show)
Other catchphrases: None
