The way their bodies line up almost perfectly-- with the mouse fitting between the rat's form-- is a really nice detail. Has a kind of "don't worry, I got you" sort of feel. It is a pictorial-compositional hug.
You always get the vulnerable/scared-but-safe/protected submissive feeling down real well in pictures like this.
