Asian Sliders Trio
Another Office Party extravaganza!
We have a new hire joining us this month, so we planned a "welcome aboard" party for him. When asked what his preference for foods was; breakfast or lunch or "other" and what sort of goodies? His answer was, "Can't go wrong with a good burger! And I really like Asian flavors, after spending time in Japan."
To which Vrghr replied, "EXCELLENT! A Challenge!"
Wuff loves Asian flavors too! So, how to marry this concept with the good ol' American burger? Asian beef burgers would definitely be a thing! But there are so many other flavors, Vrghr couldn't stop with just one!
How to do that? SLIDERS!! Lovely little burger bites, and wuffy could do different types to feature some of the iconic flavors.
The result:
Asian Hoisin Beef
Yakitori Chicken
Bulgogii Pork
To go with this, wuffy created homemade Lotus Root Pickles and Korean Daikon Pickles, and "Kimchi" Slaw. Vrghr also made Hoisin Ketchup, Wasabi Mayo, Ma-Ploy (Sweet chili garlic) Mayo, Bulgogi Sauce, and Yakitori Sauce. All of which were new techniques and recipes for this wuff.
To make the party day easier, the sliders were pre-cooked at home in skillet and Sous Vide, then stored. Another trip to the Sous Vide on party day to warm to the middle, and just 15 minutes prior to party they took a quick sear in the electric skillets for some color and crisp Maillard flavors.
Vrghr offered 2 types of store-bought kimchi, seaweed salad, crisp egg rolls, steamed edamame and other condiments.
Wuff will have to split these recipes up over several posts, as there is a LOT going on here!
Below is the list and the links (which will get filled in as the recipes are posted).

"Kimchi" Slaw / Korean Pickled Daikon / Pickled Lotus Root - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/23932596/
This isn't something one would casually put together. It needs a couple days prep for the pickles, slaw and sauces to rest and let the flavors developed, and for the flavors in the meats to marinade. The sous vide part isn't necessary, but is a HUGE benefit if you want to bring all this together for a special party. If you don't have one, the final cooking is going to increase from about 20 minutes to over an hour.
PS: Please excuse the photo quality this time; wuffy left his camera at home and had to use the cell phone for the pictures.

*LOL* Vrghr is NOT going to name it "Hotel California"! You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave!
Or Phil Collins, "Home By the Sea".
heh, there are a lot of stories of places you can check in, but not out. But most of them are Horror-based. Wuff's place would be the opposite. Unless, of course, you wanted to watch your weight! *chuckles*
