I came up with about 5 different names for this guy as I was drawing him, none of them seem to be sticking, and it is kinda annoying. As is trying to 'correct' every tiny detail I feel is out of place with this guy. For some reason even though I did the sword in many layers, with teh brightest layer at the tip (trying to get a 3D effect) the tip of the sword is darker than the next layer... I don't know if it's my 3DS because I've tried using different shades of colour on other layers... good gosh, it gets confusing sometimes, I can barely manage with 5 layers, I have no idea how people can manage with more. I guess it'd be easier to keep track of things as they could be named on a computer, but... bleh.
I'm super happy with how this guy turned out, even though doing tiny subtle lines (along the arms) for shading purposes (as well as in other places, but not so subtle.) is satisfying, but can also drive you nuts. I wish the 3DS' thinnest brush option actually allowed for a solid line of pixels, instead of having to go OVER and OVER the line being very very careful not to slip up....
I wanted somethign different (not a big cat/wolf/african wild dog) to draw, and I was reading an old diary I kept when I went to visit America a couple of years ago, and read about a part where me and the friend I went to visit and we heard bats outside one of the stores he took me to. Didn't see any, but hearing them was cool enough. I decided a bat would be a cool idea, so here's a bat!
This might be the last thing I draw on a 3DS for a while, depending on how... a project of mine goes. I want to replace the d-pad in my regular 3DS with a GBA SP one because, although fine for art, the regular 3DS D-pad is terrible for DS games and downloaded games (as is the circle pad for regular DS games, it doesn't feel right) so I'm tempted to take a risk and open up the whole console jsut to change it.
