Well two more hours put onto the 8 x 10 inch painting I posted earlier.
There's a chance I might have this done tomorrow. It just depends on how well I add in the foliage in the foreground and the shadow of the foreground pine.
Notice something new?
I've added a beach to push the mid-ground further back.

Thanks.
It's not quite finished. The next step (hopefully today) is to bump up the contrast in the foreground, and push the background further back with a wash.
The final steps will be adding additional shadowing for the foreground trees, three birds in flight over the water, and a signature.
I will admit I'm NOT the best painter in the world (and my Dad - who I wish would paint more - is a 1000 times better than me). Frankly I'd be far better if I had more classwork, and painted every day.
My youngest brother, who does genealogy, claims we're related to 18th Century painter, Patrick Henry Davenport.

Thanks Soba. :-D
Did some work yesterday. And after putting in a bit more color I'm letting the whole canvas dry, before going on.
I will have to apply what's called a wash. This uses a similar color, but very watered down and pushes parts of the image further back from the eye.
So... I need a wash for the cloud area (to make it look farther away);
A wash for the a few of the tree trunks in the center of the ground area (to make them look further away);
And then add more color to the foreground to make it "Pop!"
At least 1 week before I can do that (probably 2 weeks is better).
