The Quick And The Angry

Mission: 6
Objective: Retrieve hamster for Avis Brightwing
Nishi's Note: Ham-Chat
After taking Oxnard from the shop, we had to hide out until night before we could go where we needed to.
Fuxie and I have to capture someone else for Avis Brightwing, so Cooni heads out with the hamster to meet us at the castle.
Oxnard wakes up, not knowing where he is, what happened to Faux, or where he's going, and Cooni won't talk about it.
The concept about death and disappearance comes from a Middle Eastern story called Saeed The Pessoptimist.

It's your art, of course; I guess I'm used to a comic style that stresses coherence and unambiguity over the disjointed mental spigot that you seem so taken to. I'm all for artistic impression; it's just I feel the emotional impact of your work is lessened if the reader is left confused. A reader's confusion will most likely lead to simple boredom: if she can't easily follow what's going on, she'll simply skip through it.
I suppose I could have typed that out initially instead of being so blunt, but it's not like it was that harsh in the first place. Like I said: I got bored.

If you are interested in some Ham-Chat, I offer you the following page I posted a few months back.

It's missing a few words, but the major ones are there. :)

Oh wow! COOOOL, that is like...SO cute, AND informative! What a great combination :3 yeah that's pretty cool, I have the GB and GBA game and I hear HHHB expands a bit more but the GB one has a pretty large range too, all essential stuff.
...I can't believe we're discussing a a semi language used in a children's cartoon like it should be studied in college...This is so cool :3

Hey, Ham-Chat is quite a viable form of communication. Between friends, or around those you just wish to bewilder, nothing beats dropping a "Hamha!" or "Oopa!" In the least, you'll get the attention of those around you until they realize what it is from. Then, you'll either get praise for being different, or a shrug that is worth a good laugh later. :)
There's also the fun of others realizing what Ham-Chat is and getting a kick out of those who don't even realize they are doing it. I was out at an event where they sold tickets and one of the sellers went, "Ticki, Ticki, Ticki." Needless to say, much laughter was had by all on that one.

Omg, Oxxy is so cute. <X3 I hope he does get to see him again. There is nothing worse then losing someone you love, or seeing someone sad after they lose someone they love. Awesome job Nishi, I like how you did the pattern overlays and how you drew the characters. Especially Oxxy & Nishi. *Hug* <:3
Kazootles! I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this portion of the story. Oxnard delivers a most touching perfomance as he shares his feelings with Cooni. And, even though Cooni is un-responsive, he continues to pour his little heart out about how much Faux meant to him as both a friend and protector.
The part I've got note most about this entire section, though, is the final three frames. It's like Cooni was able to stay focussed throughout everything up until, by chance, Oxnard was able to say something that struck a chord within the rogue's heart. In that final frame, I'd say Oxnard and Cooni bonded in a way that, I'd imagine, even makes Cooni wonder if he is doing the right thing in serving out the wishes of King Avis Brightwing.
Taking this on a human perspective, it is fun to realize just how even the most solid individuals have their weaknesses. No one is a machine and, therefore, all it ever takes is the right words and/or actions to open up or pull down someone.
Great work as ever, Oxnard! You never cease to keep my mind rolling with ideas. Oopa! :)

Ehehe, I think it's my favorite part of the whole comic - most likely because I've read the Creative Campaign of Further Realms and know all the other things going on with others involved with that whole story. Knowing there's a lot more depth to the whole situation makes it even more enjoyable. Though, since you and I have read both we probably understand it in a different way, but I think that makes it even neater. (:
Though, with the way this influences the rest of the comic, that also makes me like it a lot. :D S
I'm glad you understand the other parts too - you hit the nail on the head. There are two more pages to this chapter left, and even though we know how it ends up, I hope the rest to come'll be fun to follow!

I have no doubt. You have taken a lot of macro-elements and turned them into simply amazing micro-nuances that bring the story to life so much more than I ever thought it could be. The character development you put into Faux and, consequently, his bond with Oxnard is simply amazing.
Considering what is to come, and what you have done so far, I am very interested in uncovering what other additional depths you have come up with for our favorite team of mercenaries. Especially since, and I give you the most credit for this, how well this section of the Q&A's story reads without having to rely on having actually read the Creative Campaign[/i]. I'd say it stands alone quite well and that is no easy task for anyone to pull off. Well done!

Argh, Oxnard is so cute~ l3

Wow. This chapter made me choke up.
Wonderfully written. Using little gestures like the "high five" of love, tying back to Oxnard in the cage.... his observation about the death of a loved one vs not knowing, and then the very Expressionistic background with Cooni in the next to last panel, a nerve obviously struck... you are seriously a very goo writer.
