Well here at last is my little tribute to District 9, a movie that has greatly influenced me! You see here now, in a sensitive and thoughtful pose, an Alien from another planet that currently resides on ours.
You will forgive my inaccuracies. I had the devil of a time finding reference pictures that would give me any real details, so I kinda fudged to a degree and his face is more a composite of different blurry images that I found. Still I'm rather pleased with how Mr. Prawn turned out.
As I said, I was greatly impressed with District 9, so much so that I will be making a change myself soon. That is topic for another day though.
I hope you enjoy!

Heya Minos, What did you like about Disctrict 9. I thought it was pretty cool movie. Though my Brother said, personally, that he thought GI joe was better... so now I guess I gotta go see that one too. What's with all these movies coming out? Anyhow, nice pencil works going on.
Hey stud draggy! I liked District 9 because not only was it some hard core Sci-Fi, but it was hard core Sci-Fi with some allegory and moral content. Heh, plus there was a lot of violence and gun play. It's for sure that you will "not" be bored if you go see District 9!
I was so impressed with the effects and the Aliens themselves that it just blows me away still, and left me thinking for many days after.... I think too much it seems because I'm going to drop away my age old fursona..... But shhhh, I shouldn't talk about that now. ;)
Anyway, thanks so much for the great comment. I DO so very much love my pencils and Bristol board too!

I lurve me some District 9. What a great movie.

He's really not wearing anything but the shell atm. Most of what I saw in the movie were just garbage rags around their hocks and a jacket or two...oh and yeah, a helmet on one of them, I think.
What you see is my poor attempt at figuring out their chitin configuration around the neck. The lack of detail further down that looks smooth is simply because I don't have good references and this picture was meant to be more of an upper bust shot, thus its unfinished look. Of course frankly I like raw sketches like this too, so that's part of it.

I know just how you feel. I was kinda the same way and I do love the prawns. One thing I really like about the movie is that it brings back those old "moral" tales from the 50's and 60's Sci-Fi books, the ones that had some depth and even the short stories. I'm glad to see something of this caliber representing Science Fiction.
The movie had to be intense to drive the message home!

Wow, I was SO gone with hardcore work! Now I get back to watch all sorts of mails and submissions and pictures and... lovely eeeeerie stuff.
You certainly have one fine pencil by now. And not just for cowboys, gators and avians, but also for strangely nice and stangely odd things.

My dear Ahastar! I was thinking about you just the other day, wondering where you have been! It's so good to hear from you and I'm glad you're still around.
I want to thank you for the very nice comment. Heh, yes. I do strange things on occasion...well more often than not it would seem. :D There has been such an evolution in my art since we first started talking. There is yet more to learn, a lifetime! I cannot resist the power of the pencil, a very powerful medium indeed.
