Hello all! I decided once and for all to create a species reference for spoopups, these goofy creatures I salvaged from a failed game idea and wanted to present to you all! I dunno what the future of these guys are, but I have a desire to draw some more in a position other than “standing around,” so expect to see some more of them around. Without further ado, here are the in-depth characteristics of these guys:
-Once a feared and respected hunter species, spoopups are friendly creatures often kept as pets. While some wild spoopups remain on the prowl, most spoopups are tamed.
-Color-wise, the spoopups can have back fur of nearly any color, regardless of breed or heredity. However, the fur on their underside will change based on breed, among other things. On most spoopups, this fur is white; they are known as the Snow-bellied Spoopups due to the fur’s snow-like look.
-The second most common breed of spoopups after the Snow-bellied Spoopup is the Ironskin Spoopup. These spoopups are nearly invincible, only ever losing their invincibility late in their lives (around 35 to 40 years of age). These spoopups make for great long-term companions, but their invincibility makes them infamously careless, so they are still quite high-maintenance. These spoopups have tan fur on their bellies.
-Spoopups are very well known for their speed, a leftover from their hunter days. Spoopups of any size and weight can reach incredibly high speeds, although it does take heftier spoopups much longer to accelerate to their highest velocity. Considering that spoopups usually are large in adulthood and will either grow quite muscular or quite heavy over its lifetime (unless malnourished), this means that training your spoopup well is vital, as they have a history of crashing into -- and breaking -- things accidentally. Again, due to the carelessness of Ironskin Spoopups, they need extra care.
-Even though Ironskin Spoopups are known for being nearly invincible, all spoopups are highly resilient regardless of breed. They very well might hurt themselves if you aren’t careful, but they are usually capable of walking off what would otherwise be serious injuries.
-Normal spoopups are known for having a fairly low intellect and a playful, optimistic demeanor. This makes spoopups very hard to upset for long periods of time, even in the face of a long-term disability. In general, spoopups only want to play, and it is believed that, even in the wild when hunting, it sees its hunting as just another game. Again, this can be a blessing and a curse, as it can make training somewhat harder than it would be for other pets.
Spoopups have quite intensive diets, although whether or not the food becomes muscle or fat is determined by how much and how intensely you play with your spoopup. Overall, it is recommended that you spend a notable amount of time playing with your spoopup even if you want him to put on weight, as they will often find ways to entertain themselves otherwise, typically through misbehavior.
-Not too many breeds of spoopups are known or well researched. It is known that many spoopups with colored bellies other than the tan of the Ironskin have been seen, but the differences between breeds other than their fur color has yet to be researched, as the breeds are not very common. (Basically, this means that you can make a new breed of spoopup if you dislike something about the Snow-bellied or Ironskin Spoopups and want to make a spoopup OC of your own. On the topic of making a spoopup breed or OC, however, I would appreciate it if you got permission first. Thank you ^^)

The snow-bellied spoopups don't seem to have any advantages. Perhaps the iron-skin ones could be slower to compensate? It just doesn't make much sense to have one be clearly worse than all others.
You also say they're perfectly fine being immobile, but that they also love to run around and play. That's a clear contradiction.
But, I do like this species.

For the immobile/play thing, one thing to note is that spoopups are incredibly optimistic creatures. They love playing and they love being immobile. They obviously can't be both at once, but they'll be happy either way. It is recommended that, if you have a mobile spoopup, you let them play, but otherwise normal affection will do ^^
