An Introduction to Ames Sond 00S
I had some thoughts about the world in which these movies must have been made.
Those thoughts led to some other thoughts, and now I have this.
And now so do you!
Enjoy!

Haha, thanks! :}
There's not that many puns, are there? I mean, aside from the string of actors who played Sond, what other wordplay was there? Some of the Sond film titles, I guess?
Anyway, thanks for the fave! :D
The main thing I wanted to impart was the idea of the film industry being a bit human-and-mammal centric back in the day, and also the list of 00 agents.

But the puns were just so good... XD
Also, I had recently re-watched Thunderfin... err no, I mean Thunderball ;P and now I can't stop thinking of how would the villain look like as an acquatic anthro of some sort...
(the villain was played by Adolfo Celi, one of my favourite Italian actors and known for playing "the bad guys" on the screen)

Yes, my intention is to make Thunderfin almost entirely underwater. Ie: Once Sond gets to the tropics, he goes into the water, and the rest of the film takes place under the surface, save a few above-water shots/moments.
And yes, Adolfo is fantastic as Emilio Largo, although I think his lines were dubbed over, as many roles were, back in the day. Like Gert Frobe who played Goldfinger, he was either dubbed over after the fact, or at the least, he learned the lines phonetically, never actually knowing any english, merely repeading a series of sounds. It was probably that he did the lines phonetically, so that he made the right mouth movements, and THEN was dubbed over.

True, they used to dub actors a lot in those days... which is weird when you have like a favourite quote and then realize "wait he technically didn't say it that way... it wasn't his voice"
For me it happens a lot with Disney movies, especially those closer to my childhood, when I compare the Italian version (the one I'm mostly used to) to the original movie... it's like "all my favourite Disney moments were a lie" XD

Pssst, I renamed 'Thunderfin' to 'Thundersssquall' to have the title fit in with the convention of how all Sond titles have a sibilant 'S' in them.
Also, now it rhymes with Thunderball.
Thunderfin was going to be the ONE title that broke the rule of the hissed S, "the exception that proves the rule." But I like the idea of Thundersssquall sounding like an actual [but rare] weather-event, like Thundersnow [a snowstorm that also has thunder and lightning in it]. Meanwhile, 'Thunderball' still has basically no real meaning. >__> [Sorry Mr Fleming!]
Thoughts?

Glad you like it! :D
Yeah, but the film will still be all underwater with a lot of aquatic-species actors and all that. :}
'Thunderfin' is a bit 'obvious furry-title', too. What I mean is, it's taking a title and adding an overly obvious animal element, but that's not what I want for the Sond titles.
The anthro content in the films/posters is just a consequence of the world being one with anthros and humans. The only affectation added that my version of Ian Fleming has added is the hissed S, to be the signature element of the spy he has created, who happens to be a snake among all the species he could have chosen.
If I were to rename 'Die Another Day' as 'Sssslither Another Day', it would be TOO much. The hissing S adds a snake + animal element to these classic titles, and I wouldn't want to go too far.
All that said, yes, I did rename 'Goldfinger' as Goldscale, and I have no real defense other than my plan for the character of Auric Goldscale himself being worth it, I hope!

Oh, you only just now saw those? O:
Quantum of Solace is known as being one of the weaker entries in the series, but I find it very interesting. But the 'weakness 'or 'interesting-ness' of it is mostly due to there suddenly being a writer's guild strike that year, which meant, in the middle of filming, they couldn't get re-writes done by any of the writing staff, so Daniel Craig and the director - Marc Forster - had to come up with things on the fly. Movies normally have writers around, on set or nearby [or at least a phonecall away], to provide support if things need to be tweaked.
Daniel and Marc did as best they could, but the end product would have been different - perhaps better - if they could have made use of their writing team during filming.
But Casino Royale is just solid gold. :D

~What a fear in my heart
But you're so supreme!~
I'm always a little surprised when someone uses 'Snake Eater' as a comment on my Ames Sond submissions, so it's even more shocking to have two people doing it, all of a sudden. There are twenty-four songs from the Bond/Sond series, though! It's odd more people don't quote them. But of course, I suppose in this community, MGS is more well known than 007 minutiae.

Ahh, good, good! I do much the same, and am very partial to 'You Know My Name' as well. <:
Anyway, thank you for the fave on this submission and on the portrait of Ames from 'Dr Sssnow'! :D
I hope you enjoyed these little looks into the world of Sond. It was quite fun coming up with the alphabet roster of agents.

You mean, will I get an animated version of this scene? https://youtu.be/0xDj3NRYTU8?t=62 Probably not that part, no.
Or maybe you mean, will I get an animation of a Sond opening credits song / 'title sequence', like this?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUHD0cdQmko MAYBE ONE DAY <3
But more realistically, I hope to get something much simpler, first. One of these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRhhZ_7uVNc Since they're in every Sond movie, I should have at least ONE.

That's a dream for the future, to get a full animation of a Sond song opening title sequence.
For now I'll settle for still images from such a song sequence.
And, like I said, I plan to try to have someone create the simpler 'gun barrel opener' aka 'the Bond walk turn and shoot'

Oh hey! It's you! I meant to reply to you on that Thunderfin picture by Darbaras, where you told me to read the book version of Thunderball. I'm currently reading Moonraker after having read Casino Royale and Live and Let Die. So, I'll get to Thunderball in about 5 books time. >__>
Anyway, I very much appreciate you as someone who's read the originals (even if you've only read Thunderball itself). I've owned them all forever, but never got around to reading them until now. (Although I've read some of the newer ones too, like Devil May Care and Solo and Carte Blanche)
Have you read all the original Fleming-penned Bonds? Regardless of what you've read, I'd be interested to see what you think of my various Sond-scenes. They can be found in this folder as their own submissions, and also attached to the various Sond-arts therein [all art should have a scene attached, here]: http://www.furaffinity.net/gallery/...../Ames-Sond-00S
~
As for Thunderfin: Yes! it's my favourite concept for a Sond-version of a Bond film, to make a whole 2/3s of the film into an underwater adventure, with nothing but 'merfolk-style anthros', like that shark you saw on Darbaras' art. [The inclusion of scuba-using mercenaries is only in the battle at the end. That pic by Darb is just before the battle.]

I read both "Thunderball" and "Moonraker" when I was like 10 years old. Took scuba lessons when I was 14 because of Thunderball. The other stories didn't hold much interest in me except for "Diamonds are Forever" because I know where some of the scenes were shot. Never Say Never Again was just a remake of Thunderball without the scuba battle and I must say, a horrible one to be sure.
I barely remember Moonraker in the book thought.

Yes, I know it was the operation, [and I just finally read the book last month, in fact] but I don't know why Fleming chose to use those two words in conjunction... oh wait! I just looked it up!
Apparently, in real life, 'thunderball' was how the US soldiers witnessing an atomic test described the mushroom cloud. So maybe that was a term well known in military circles, and Fleming heard of it and used it. Clearly, in the context of the story, the operation was called that, due to the allied forces wanting to prevent a 'thunderball' from occurring.

I've been thinking about your question and the two things that most stick out to me that could be added is the Sond Girl and the Villain over the years. Are there any that set the standards and helped shape the movies in a way much as Sond did himself? Also, both have changed over the years, especially as the actors have changed. It seems to me that something should be said about them.
Dominus tecum

That's very true! If one's going to talk about Sond, the main things to mention, aside from what I've said already, is indeed: Girls, Villains, and Gadgets.
I feel as though part of me was hoping - in the above submission - to simply set up the world. Actual characters and events and objects in films, I hoped, would be seen as I reveal more of the Sond canon through the varying scenes that will come out. But I may never be able to show it all, moment by moment, so a more broad overview may indeed be needed.

I see your point there, and agree, most of the details about those characters should be left to the pictures as you flesh things out. And of course, there's also details about what each of the different actors brought to the role and the types of stories they tried to tell. What other productions did each of the actors have before then? What panache did Roger Moorelia bring over from his work on "The Saint"? Or Pierce Bronzenaga from "Remington Steele"? Was Timothy Daltmond able to make the move from theatre to film and have Arborea a land of reptiles in "Flash Gordon" thanks to Ames Sond?
Just a few more thoughts, since one of the details most interesting to me is the different actors themselves and what else they've done.

I'm nothing if not caring and detail-oriented! :}===<
Thanks so much for being such an attentive and detail-noticing fan of Sond. <3
There's another sort of 'in-universe' or rather 'in the audience-of-Sond-world' thing I need to do, in relation to No Time To Die, soon.
