This one is for all the car buffs out there... :P
So a friend of mine, ( who is a local neighbor aswell) gave me one of his cars for the weekend to use...( with the ladder-bar removed but the chute is still in place. XD ) ( also i had to do some work on it for him, ( machine a new blower idler pulley bracket) he gave me the keys and told me to enjoy it for the day..... currently lowered boost to 1200 rwhp, ( 1470 rwhp Dyno on C16 fuel and pulley swap on blower) blown 572 NRE-BBC engine, (with Nitrous) Monte Carlo SS. So im driving around town with this car attracting alot of attention from people in town & at the local Timhortons. This thing is brutal...and not the average daily car. XP im sooo gonna' buy this now from him because i need moar powa. :P
edit: now its my grocery getter. XD

Funny I never knew you were a gear head. I figured that 1100hp beast would drop into that catagory with the right driver. I myself have actually spent a considerable time on a NHRA track in Ennis Texas racing cars that I owned. I even won a bracket race one night. Awesome fun. We will have to share some car stories in between fursuit stories at the next con.
What is the gas mileage on such a car (MPG or KPL?). He may have one hell of a ride but it sounds expensive to maintain all those vehicles, plus fuel. Judging by your responses to other people's comments he must be a wealthy individual. In ten years..he may not be, judging by all the expenses. :P
As I was mentioning to someone else (and you may disagree) a car is just a means to get you to and from places. Nothing more. You start to get in trouble when you think of it as something else.

When I first saw this, I thought, 'damn.. going to have problems getting the hood down over it'!
I had driven a rental two door '05 Monte Carlo. Not a bad car, just not my kind of thing to drive though. A friend who helped me drive up to AC that year from Atlanta was bragging about how he got it up to speed, only I was passed out the whole time. Oy..
As for driving that thing you got there around town, As someone once said about driving a hummer when they first came out: 'you wouldn't want to be picking your nose while driving one, everyone's going to be looking at you with that attention 'getter'. :P

With the big block the dual carbs and the blower yes,it is too much....especially since you can get the same amount of power out of fuel injection, turbo and a dependable more economical small block like an LS1 these days.
Old big block beasts and roots style huge blowers are fun,but ya they definitely aren't practical in any way.
Guys are doing daily driven newer cars tho nearing the same HP levels and they are pretty streetable, reliable and practical because computers allow you to take a car and turn the power up or down pretty easily.
well,more so than this anyway,lol
I got sucked into fuel injection, turbo and tuners from muscle cars because you get the same power and more than twice the economy.....and since I try to be more practical in my old age....it just makes more sence now.
I still want a pinto with a radically blown stroked big block tho ^_^

Very true for most street applications, LS1 or LS2s with mods are awsome. Though setups like this car has is still the basis for anything above prostock or those who wants to push well beyond 1500 bhp up to the unreal Top Fuel setups that are exceding 8000 hp these day s. :P
aye,I don't need all that.......even when i used to go to the events with the rails, funny cars and Top fuels I always gravitated more to the street cars because I was a street racer.
They are pretty to look at,but expensive trailer queens as far as i was concerned.
I could build a herd of street machines for the cost of one of those top fuel cars......and actually drive them ^_^

You and I need to hang out more often - I build stuff like that!
(I won't mention my recent VW build which resulted in a burned piston, however... 47 out of 49 is still a good record!)
Very cool, by the way. You don't see many Montes out there with some serious work done to them. I helped the owner of Performance Chevrolet install and fine-tune a ZZ383 crate (500-ish hp) in his '86 Monte... but I've seen a grand total of three with a big huffer poking through the hood (not counting the race-only cars)!

it is, its probally the only car i drove that was sort of intimidating. nerve-recking and a handfull to drive, sort of a wiplash-inducer if not prepaired for the torque is has when launched. ( it has all the drag car stuff like full cage, fuel cell where the back seat used to be, ladder bar, chute, 5-point regulation harness, pop off steering wheel, nitrous, and very, very LOUD. :P
