I should. I kind of envisioned Michael Palin playing the ghost, but at 75 he's getting a little long in the tooth.
The Brass Age takes place at a brass foundry in Pennsylvania. The plant manager dies in an industrial (perhaps) accident and the factory sends his 12-year-old son to school in England. When he returns, he becomes an engineer at the plant. Palace intrigues, corporate skullduggery, love and spectral mentors ensue.

This story provides us with a potent brew: educated, hugely respectful to the men and machines of that time, but never maudlin. And there is a balance of gentle humour and understated melancholy here, the same blend that gives many of your stories a truly unique flavour and which I find so very moving. I think the proper term for this is 'style'.
There is a flood of creativity that flows through some rare people, and you are one of them. Envious, right here.

This was an engaging read, its always nice to see your mixing of understated melancholy and jaunty humour in a way that they compliment each other nicely.
Of the characters, Harding was probably the most interesting to me, I can't quite put my finger on it, but I think it as to do with his exasperation at how he met his end.
