Some time ago I asked Mike Curtis if I could "borrow" two of his Shanda the Panda characters and use them in an alternative story line where the two women, named Sissy, poodle fem, and Missy, spaniel fem, end up getting "jumped" back in time to the time of King Tut. There the two of them end up saving the "Boy King" (A fennec fox) from dying. Mike granted me permission and I've been working on the comic scripts ever since. Most are done and I hope to complete out the one or two others in the near future.
As a "teaser" I decided to convert one of the short "side" stories into a text story and here it is. See what you think.
Story posting "Okayed" by Mike Curtis and my "Thanks" to him for that.

"Semper Fi!"
Porker fairly marched up the steps of the museum. His pace was understandable, having been in the Marine Corps. for a number of years. As a hog he wasn't exactly good looking by many standards but he cut quite a striking figure in his Marine dress blues which sported his new Staff Sergeant rank on the sleeves. A number of ribbons "decorated" that uniform including a pin that "declared" that he was a paratroop as well. Six foot four inches tall and quite fit he turned more than a few female heads as he walked up the steps. The museum he was headed into held an extensive collection of Egyptian artifacts from the tomb of King Tut.
"Too bad Sissy isn't here," he thought. "She'd be absolutely drooling over this!"
Nelwyn "Sissy" Poodle was a poodle fem he knew from his high school days. He had been something of a bully back in those days but Sissy, barely five feet tall and pretty slim, didn't put up with it from him. Poker grinned some at the memories of the times she'd punched his lights out!
"Sigh. She was one of my best students on hand to hand and melee combat!" Porker said to himself.
Porker was a combat instructor in the Corps. Besides the "regular" up close and personal combat training he had, and gave, he was accomplished in several other forms of melee and martial arts combats and taught those techniques to others who wanted to learn them. That included Sissy. She had asked him to teach her better ways to defend herself and he agreed. Moving through the doors and into the building he shook his head at her early attempts to attack him when he instructed her to.
"So intense and determined yet so unrefined!" he thought.
He easily dodged and fended off her attacks, many times tripping her or otherwise dumping her on her butt on the mats. A time came when she was, once more, sitting on her ass on said mats and glaring up at him.
"Nel! I like you too much to teach you minimum or..."'soft' combat! If you're going to fight you FIGHT!! Second place gets you dead!" he told her. "Now, are you ready to learn serious combat?"
In answer she got up and looked at him. The angry glare faded, replaced by a cooler look.
"Teach me!" she calmly replied.
"Damned if she didn't learn!!" Porker thought with satisfaction.
The instruction went on for six years. Then the unexpected happened. A little over a year ago Sissy and her very close friend, a spaniel fem nicknamed Missy, completely vanished. And, oddly enough, right after they had visited a museum exhibit similar to this one. The best efforts of the police came up completely blank. The force of private investigators that Missy's wealthy dad hired did no better.
"Gone as if they never were," he thought.
As he wondered through the spacious museum he marveled at the artifacts there. The place held such a huge number of items that he wondered if he could see all of them in the hours available.
"Lord! Sissy would be in fits of joy seeing all of this!" he murmured.
Nelwyn had been studying history in college with a particular interest in ancient Egypt. And if one wanted to see and study old Egypt via her past relics then there was no better way than to see the stuff that had been found and recovered from the tomb of King Tut.
"The 58 year reign of King Tut was arguably the most influential period in Egyptian history!" stated one of the guides. "With the help of his two Queens Egypt moved forward in their technology and in expanding and defending the country's borders."
Due to his military career Porker studied military history. As such he had an interest in one of the Queens, one named Woseritirisi* (Woserit, for short.) also known as Egypt's "Battle Queen". She had a section of the museum dedicated to her personal items and he headed for it after touring the main area.
Porker admired Queen Woseritirisi's war chariot. It had little decoration or adornment and was sturdy, even hard looking, in appearance.
"Practical and tough, like the woman! So like Sissy!" he thought.
It stuck him as ironic that his friend and this Queen were both the same species and that even their body builds and face structures were nearly identical.
"Hall of Queen Woseritirisi's Writings, Translations Provided" the sign read as Poker entered the room. The Queens, even Tut himself, had kept extensive journals, set, most of the time, on fired clay tablets. They went so far as to place their thumbprints in the upper left or right corners of those tablets. This helped archeologists in sorting out of which writing was done by whom. After a few minutes of looking around he came upon one glass case and read the engraved plaque within.
"Queen Woseritirisi was not hesitant to praise those she believed worthy of it. This is her most enigmatic praise."
Poker shifted his eyes to the translation plaque.
"Praise, Honor, Glory, and Remembrance to the Warrior who comes from the Sea and from the Sky!! He who taught me to fight with fist, foot, nail, tooth, and mind! To him, his memory, and his Teachings I remain Always Faithful***!!!"
"Holy Smokes!!" Poker exclaimed! "She could be talking about a paraMarine!! Lord! It feels like she's talking straight to me!!"
"Ancient Egypt, Era of King Tut, Palace of the King in Memphis:
Missy, aka Queen Banafritirisi**, looked over the shoulder of her friend Sissy, aka Queen Woseritirisi, and read the newly inscribed clay tablet Sissy held in her hands. She pressed her left thumbprint in the upper left corner. This showed that the writing was from her heart.
"For Porker?" Missy asked.
"Yes," Sissy sighed.
The poodle woman closed her eyes and leaned back in her chair. Missy noted the sad expression on her friend's face.
"Thing is, I'll never know if he ever sees it," Nelwyn said.
