If you are curious about how I ship your art, or when your piece will be mailed out, this is your guide!
SHIPPING COSTS:
I charge you guys based on what USPS charges me, plus a bit extra to cover the costs of shipping supplies such as envelopes, do-not-bend stickers, address labels etc.
US - $5.00 ($10.00 for USPS Holiday rates, between October and January)
International - $25.00
All art is sent as a package regardless of size. US shipments come with a tracking number, while international packages come with a customs number. I will send this number to you once your piece ships so you can keep an eye on it or look up it's whereabouts if it's taking a while to reach you. If your piece gets lost in transit, you will need this number when contacting your postal service so don't lose it!
WHEN I MAIL:
I ship in batches, with one batch going out per month. This is usually towards the end of the month, after I've finished the queue. I will never ship something and not tell you, so if you haven't heard from me, it hasn't mailed out yet. When I do contact you, you will be given the tracking number or customs number, and if you're in the US the expected delivery date. Please keep in mind, if you order something two months in a row, I will wait to mail the first item with the second to save us on shipping costs.
Due to limitations placed on me by customs, I cannot send more than $400 worth of art in one package - after this, they require it to be insured and that can get pretty expensive.
MAKING SURE YOUR STUFF ARRIVES SAFELY:
I do my best to pack your artwork carefully, using photo mailers and DO NOT BEND stickers to prevent folding, plastic sleeves to keep it dry, and printing extremely neatly to make sure it gets to the correct destination. However, despite all this, once I have sent your artwork out, I no longer have control over what happens to it. Sometimes, for whatever reason, mail carriers are not as careful as they should be. :C Please keep this in mind when you receive your work. I have rarely had anything arrive to someone damaged, and never with more than minor bends in the corners because they've tried to shove the envelope into a mailbox too small for it, so generally speaking you have nothing to worry about unless your mail carrier does this kind of stuff.
It is also of vital importance that you give me your FULL and CORRECT address. Whichever legal name ( first AND last) you can receive mail by, not your nickname. City, state, zip and apartment numbers if applicable! I will write things down exactly as you give them to me, so if something is wrong, your artwork will likely end up back on my doorstep and we'll have to pay to ship it again. It only takes a second to double check when you're filling out my commission form and make sure you haven't made any typos. Also please be aware I may not know the correct format to write out your address if you're in another country, so its best if you give it to me using the exact format it should go on the envelope. I have had confused clerks at the post office and no explanation to give them except "that's the way they wrote it". :/
