"Albion" is based on a science fiction RPG of the same name - the icon is taken from the box art. The storyline begins with a mining spacecraft arriving at what is thought to be a desert world - a scout crash-lands on the planet, and you discover that it is inhabited (including a race of cat-people, as it happens). As the game progresses, you're taken around the world trying to find the mining ship again, getting to know its history and people - and suddenly, out of nowhere, you have to save it from disaster.
It's one of the few games that I've found to be genuinely emotionally involving, and it's available at The Underdogs at the moment: http://www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?id=35
This is a remake of my original, with a couple of changed instruments and a new section near the end, where previously I'd had another verse (which made things a little repetitive). Slightly cheesy lyrics aside, even though it's three years old this is a song that I'm very proud of.
[Lyrics]
Why must humans always destroy
Always ugly and despoil
Tearing the planet to suit their needs
In their search for gold and oil
Been given one last chance far too often
And they always carry on
So many centuries ago we left the world to flee our past
Now this planet we call home
Let me take you far beyond the stars
To the place where we all belong
The planet of our brothers in the human race
Come with me to Albion
We came from the Earth to find a new planet
With more resources to take
Nugget was our target, the desert world
We didn't know of our mistake
The planet below awaits us
We're on a new frontier
To be the first to see this world
We're the pioneers
From here I see the planet rise
Our journey has begun
Taken down on to the land
Beneath an alien sun
I have travelled far beyond the stars
To somewhere that I don't belong
A planet that we haven't yet explored or known
But this is where it began
It isn't barren as we thought
All our planet's life and more
Now to me the Earth seems lifeless
Why didn't we see this before
Now I look around me I can see
That science and technology have failed our race
The species here are balanced with their world
Isolated in deep space
I was taken far beyond the stars
To the place where we all belong
A planet that we haven't yet exploited and harmed
Come with me to Albion
How can there be other humans here as well
We've got to get back, and then we'll tell
They can't take the life from here
But the landing time is near
They're coming to take our lives
After destroying one earth
Don't care about us or this planet
Exchanging our very lives for their wealth
Been given one last chance far too often
And they always carry on
Not long ago we left behind and turned against our race
Now this planet we call home
Let me take you far beyond the stars
To the place where we all belong
The planet of our kind, no matter what their race
Come with me to Albion
And we will stand to defend it
From the race which was once mine
The species of the planet standing side by side
And together we will shine
Let me take you far beyond the stars
To the place where we all belong
The planet of our kind, no matter what their race
Come with me to Albion
Let me take you far beyond the stars
To the place where our lives began
The planet of our kind, no matter what their race
Come with me to Albion
Come with me, I'll show you the world
I'll show you the place that we saved
Come with me, together we'll travel on
Come with me, with me to Albion

You know, it's so unknown here that I never considered that other people on the site might have played it!
It's one of my favourite games, though - I had a demo of it when I was younger, and that animated scene just after the crash-landing was probably a major part of why I ended up in this community. :)

Yes, my personal site is http://wired.st-and.ac.uk/~wong - or http://wired.st-and.ac.uk/~wong/modsite/ for the section on my music, but it hasn't really been updated in ages.
I would have thought so as well, I never thought to check - in fact it was just on a whim that I decided to tag it "Iskai" as a species when I uploaded it, and I'd forgotten I'd done it!
I have seen one bit of fanart of Sira on e621, pointed out to me by someone else, but that's all... nevertheless, it's nice to see someone else who liked the game!

You finally made me signing up Furaffinity :3 Your music is awesome! I originally got Albion (this music) from ModArchive a long while ago, searching after the old game hoping someone got inspired by it. Back then i did not know that this Albion title had anything to do with the game, i thought just a coincidence. I listened it frequently (Among "Tears of an Eagle" and "Promise" i think which i found on ModArchive from you back then), probably even when i was creating my digital artworks. They are nicely flowing dynamic composations. And now i found that the author is here and this is really Albion! Hilarious! I almost sang the lyric with it! How on the hell can i fav this?! (Registered just minutes ago :D )
Ok, found, fav :3 What i also like much about your music is your unique style. You use some elements, tune, composition which somehow, in some ways grow out of all your pieces what makes me able to distinguish your music from any other, giving your music a character which only you posess. Excellent!
Thank you so much :) It's wonderful to hear that people enjoy my music so much - and even remember it from the ModArchive days! At that point the site didn't really lend itself to listener comments, so I was pretty much posting into a void and not knowing whether anyone was listening.
And indeed, it is Albion! Even though I think that there are some things that could have gone better with the actual gameplay of it, it's one of my favourite games ever just for its storyline (and I think that the Iskai were a very large influence in my finding myself here now, after I saw _that_ first cutscene on the planet when I was about twelve...) I'd quite like to get back into doing songs based on existing storylines like this one - the only one I've done recently was Tale of the Cave, and even that was quite a while ago now that I look!

It's always nice to hear from other people who recognize it :) I think it was 1996, so I must have been about twelve or so when I first played it - just the right age for that scene with the Iskai woman near the start to become an unconscious but fairly large reason why I'm here now!
:) I actually somehow thought nothing of it at the time, then suddenly remembered it a few years later and thought... that can't have been a naked cat-woman, can it? And it turned out that it had been! I only actually completed it very recently, with liberal use of a guide... I got lost very quickly shortly after getting off the first island.
I never completed it when it was first out because my cd became damaged and broken and i couldnt ever find it for sale again... But i replayed it last year, was fun though it reminded how much better i was at rpgs wehn i was younger, or maybe just more patient... was pretty funny to see the game predict europe developing its own currency, and supposedly germany rejecting it though IRL it was my country that rejected it :p
That was a strange moment, reading it again now :) It happened a lot sooner than the game thought it would, too!
I think that we must have been a lot more patient with games a couple of decades ago... Albion does tend to leave you without a clear idea of what you're doing sometimes, and more patience is the only way that I can explain the appeal of the King's Quest and other Sierra games (I grew up with Lucasarts adventures, and when I eventually got to Sierra's variety it was a complete surprise to me that you could freely toss important items into lakes or use them otherwise wrongly to make the game unwinnable without realizing it).
Thanks for the watch, by the way!

I love how you all talk about Albion xD I only got the demo from a friend and we played it for months, until we figured out how to feed the mouths in the former guild (dji cantos? I guess not, I lost patience too). I remember that Sira had fungification full by far, when we exported the safegames to the original we "achieved" later on, via a friend of a friend of my friend`s parents, ALTHOUGH copying CDs is not, but it was nowhere to get, so it was okay this time =D
I still remember to use that blue potion "cheat" and trying to figure out for hours and hours which combination of goods is lighter than the actual value of gold...
.... Anybody knows?
in the metal former guild, second dungeon, at the 3 magic-carpet doors on the one side of the floor (there is a room with an illusion wall leading nowhere) and 2 on the other side, how one manages to get into that last room there? door? drill? I got a list of what`s in there, but never found out how to get inside.
Had that faint hope I might find other fans on fa eventually xD

It's great to see another fan of it :)
I had the demo when I was about 12, too - I got it from some coverdisc somewhere, and it wasn't until a long time later that I downloaded and played the full version of it. I seem to remember that in the demo I was stuck in the "former guild" at the mouths area, too. Continually asking for blue potions was a lifesaver - I'm not sure how I would have got through the game without that! And I think that certain gems weighed less than the equivalent weight in gold, but I'm not sure that you could buy them... it's been a long time since I played the game, I might be confusing it with something else entirely!
Thanks a lot for the watch and the favourites today, as well - it's always fantastic to know that people enjoy my music, as well as the... subjects that I've written about ;)

I ask that anybody: you know another game as full of love? =D
and the watch and fav is my pleasure!
I think I know pretty much of the game, without the potions you can actually get Drirr`s lance...and honestly, I think I could still do that journey packing rather quick xD The goddess` lights at the end and how you get to it, how the Kenget talk about inner strength and your friend`s comments, how to the point Tom is (he has a faint bit of O`neil xD)
This game might actually have played a big role of getting me into my love for details :) Most rewarding!
The stolen crystal was a bit mean though xD

brings back a lot of memories for me before i even knew what a furry was,my brother and I had the shareware version of ALBION and we loved it. I can still remember the tedious task of solving the murder and later getting the full version on DosBox. I always looked at the Iskai and thought "Damn the females are HOT!" I can totally see this song falling into either the credits of the game or the games final fight. Loved the game and this song,MP3 available?
Thanks! I'm glad you like it, and it's great to meet someone else for whom Albion caused strange unidentifiable feelings :) I remember the demo was surprisingly huge - I never even reached the end of it, but the furthest I ever got was the dungeon that you had to explore to the northwest of the city after the murder had been committed, and I don't remember anything being blocked off aritifically. It surely played a part in my ending up here as well - I must have played it first when I was about twelve, and I remember just... recalling the game one day when I was about 15 and wondering if I had misremembered the fact that it had a topless catgirl in it, so I reinstalled it to check and it turned out that I had been right!

That might be a pretty good idea, actually - I do have a Bandcamp account ( http://albion.bandcamp.com ) but this, along with some of my other older songs, isn't on it.
