Interesting Dhole Facts!
* Dholes are more intimate than wolves and often engage in friendly social rituals to strengthen pack bonds. One interesting dhole pack ritual involves individuals preparing for hunts by playing and chasing each other around as a warm-up session before the hunt.
* Instead of barking or howling, dholes use clicks, whistles, mews, screams, yips, and squeaks to communicate. Among their various calls include chicken-like clucking sounds!
* According to waza.org, "The dhole is an opportunistic feeder eating berries, fruit, insects, lizards, and mammals [of various sizes, from small rodents to mature deer]"
* At times, dhole clans will combine to create a "super pack". They'll hunt together, share food, and engage in friendly activities. They'll even break off again into their original smaller groups.
* A Wikipedia article on dholes states: "Dominant dholes are hard to identify, as they do not engage in dominance displays as wolves do, though other clan members will show submissive behavior toward them."
* Dhole clans have a lead pair (though it can be hard to tell) but unlike with wolf packs, dhole packs have multiple child-bearing couples.
* Also unlike wolves, dholes allow the clan's puppies to eat first
* Dhole clans live in burrows that have multiple entrances and exits.
* Females tend to leave the clan for another more often than males, which may occasionally result in clans that have way more males than females
* Many dhole clans are related or include individuals who are related to dholes of other packs. This is believed to contribute to the tradition of dhole clans sometimes combining, as if for a family reunion!
* A group of dholes is often called both a "clan" and a "pack", though some sources state that "clan" is more accurate.
* (Sad fact) with only around 2,500 left in the wild, these canines are already extinct in about 10 Asian countries. Save the Dhole!

This is awesome! I appreciate you so much for putting this all together!
I will say one of my favorite facts about Dholes is that their middle 2 toe pads are fused at the base.
(this is also found in Maned wolves, golden Jackals, and Basenjis.)
