This was the last picture I took of my first car, a 1970 145 Volvo [S]
About two hours later I was handed $150 and she was driven away. She was a great car and I wish there had been a way for me to have kept her back then. It simply wasn't to be, the rust was just too extensive though it may not look so here. The tough B20B engine was tired and had a audible main knock. The right front control arm bushings were worn out and clunking (the left front wasn't far behind) and many things were wearing out.
The day before I'd taken my video camera and recorded myself driving her along with all the sounds and noises.
Outside the garage door was her replacement, a 1979 245 Volvo.
Originally shot on Kodak Gold 400ASA with a non-descript Kodak 'point and shoot'. Then re-shot RAW at 100ASA. Colour curves were used in Photoshop to correct negative orange cast and then inverted. Then brought into Aperture for further tweaks.
