Hurr hurr. Yeah I dunno I got some quicky shots out on the back porch since I'm finally done! Few things need tweaking still before I'm completely happy, but that's it. Padding in the upper legs is too low, need to fix that.
I'M DONE. UGH. This entire thing is hand-sewn. My fingers hate me but I feel very accomplished.

I personally find a lot of them terrifying, too, no worries. XD But I've always thought the concept was awesome. I'm not a fan of the toony ones but others are okay. :3
Also, wow, thank you! XD This was actually my first suit I've made, but I suppose the hours I spent studying tutorials by others have paid off.

That was definitely one of my goals. I'm not a fan of huge heads or baggy suits, I wanted one that fit properly and was as normally proportioned as possible. XD It helps a lot that I'm fairly thin in real life, I suppose. ^^; It's strange but wearing the suit makes me feel quite huge because of all the fluff. XD
Wonderful job! Not only are you a master of art (i still cna't stop looking at that commission i had from you <3) you're a master of the needle! And your first? wow, simply amazing, i mean it. I don't often give out such praise, but nice.
I've always been wary of fursuits because a lot of them seem less serious, ill made and just generally bulky and too immature for my taste. that, or they intimidate me because i cannot see the person in them. However, wow, you really outdid yourself. Definitely worth all the time you put into it! I love the colors, the pattern, the fur, all of it is just the best work i've ever seen, and i've seen lots of people posting their fursuits. Sexy, if i do say so, how realistic and serious it all looks. The pattern, the anaomy, it's enough to just die for x3

I was definitely going for something not cartoony, as that style of suits really weirds me out sometimes. I really enjoy the suits that
Beetlecat makes, as they're more realistic but still have a good bit of character to them, so I kind of tried to go for that level. Though obviously being my first suit it's not quite to her level of expertise! XD
I really need to practice and learn how to move/pose in the thing so it doesn't look awkward though. The fur adds quite a bit of bulk to the body so you have to hold your arms and such out further and in generally just really over-exaggerate a lot of actions to make it look right. XD

xD Haha, Less bleeding fingers and pins poking out of places you really don't want them O_o
I'm bad enough trying to alter my clothes, let alone make a fursuit! Don't even want to think how bad my attempt would come out, and the state my body would be in after its completed Haha :P

Thank you! I think the instinct for a lot of people is to use really bulky padding to make the "bend" in the digigrade legs more apparent, but it doesn't really look natural when you do that because you can easily tell that there's an actual human leg in there. With these legs I used a lot less padding so that the curve of the leg went a bit more naturally. They look kind of odd when I stand up completely straight but as long as I bend my leg a tad they're quite nice. ;3
Oh, I see what you mean. Like a definite difference from where the padding is and where your leg is? I think you've got the "knee" in a good place tho. I've been looking around for padded legs and how others have been doing them and you've got yours looking good in my opinion. :) Pretty hard to get to look right! Silly plantigrade legs don't like to be digi XD And I think you've got the feet done well too! Sometimes they end up just looking too long or the hiding of them doesn't quite work. Looks good here tho!
You're welcome! :)
You're welcome! :)
Yeah the padding has shifted about quite a bit in shape since I've taken it out and put it back in there so many times, I need to take it out and reshape it a tad. XD
Learned a trick from
Beetlecat's Red XIII suit for the feet, if you cover the back of the heel in longer fur so that it looks like a ruff instead of just the heel, it helps to hide it. Looks like the bulk on the back of the foot is just longer fur. Not sure if I explained that too well. XD
I also tried to use a good bit of the toe of the slipper underneath when I made the hoof/toes. Those are "sculpted" directly onto the slipper instead of making them beforehand and sticking them on the end.

It's all padding and a trick of the eye. Padding creates the main leg shape, on the front above the knee and on the back of the calf. Then to make the foot appear smaller you can cover the heel of the foot in a longer fur, that way it just looks like fluff on the back of the foot instead of the back of a shoe underneath, if that make sense. :3
You pretty much hit the nail on the head there, that was basically my goal. I don't like a lot of the negativity associated with fursuits but I've always loved costumes and the creation thereof. I will agree that some fursuits can be pretty creepy though. ^^;
The legs are just padded above the knee and on the back of the calf, there's no stilt or anything to worry about, so they're quite comfortable. My foot is flat on the ground.
