I was never really much into Zelda growing up, but that's primarily due to having a Playstation in the house rather than an N64. It was all about Crash Bandicoot and Spyro when I was younger.
Didn't really start playing any Zelda games until Wind Waker.
Which is ironic, since my mom was a Zelda FANATIC back in the days of the original game on the NES. She swears she still has her hand-drawn map of the game's overworld stashed in our basement somewhere.
