Old plaster.
This is a study in texture. It took about an hour. I should draw a furry and put him on the windowsill.

This one is all digital, I didn't see the need to sketch anything beforehand being as the actual line art was simply two concentric boxes and three lines. If it were something more complicated I'd have to sketch it out and scan it in. I used nothing but the airbrush tool on a single layer, I don't believe in filters and too many masking layers is stifling.
I had a few photographs I took of buildings around here to reference, the Leel Building had its plaster patched up some time ago but the paint reacted differently with the new plaster and cracked and chipped instead of fading away gracefully like it did on the rest of the plaster. I think I did a pretty good job of recreating that.
