I may as well mention that the Kjola have the technological capacity to change forms -- it isn't a natural abillity, but something like crossing a Star Trek replicator with a transporter. Under the circumstances, changing form is rather old-hat and not commonly done without reason. They don't change their hair to purple or add tails just to follow fashion, and you won't find anything like a punk scene among them, with everyone desparate to look as shockingly different from everyone else as they can. That would be so fifteen or seventeen centuries ago...
