One of the comics that was going to be in DMFA that I decided to scrap last minute. Wasn't sure if the joke was pushing the PG limit a bit too far. Granted this isn't the first time the joke has been done about Matilda's chest, but then again that may mean it's a sign I'm beating that dead horse a bit much.
Since I pretty much had it sketched, I figured I'd post it. If anything to show I'm not dead yet. Just that DMFA has been dominating a lot of my time. And people can see how messy and terrible my sketches are when I haven't gone through and detailed them up proper.

It's actually very helpful for learning artists to see work that's been half-finished. I wish more of the artists I like put up sketch work and unfinished work. Those who pay attention might learn a simple technique here and there. After that, it's practice practice practice. I'd imagine you have quite an extensive box of unfinished drawings, comics, and commissions that never saw the light of digital day.
I know I sure do. :3

Also, just on a side note, I wanted to point out that you have done something unusual with Matilda that many artists don't pull off. In general, people are repulsed by a break in physiological symmetry, which would mean that Matilda's third eye -should- detract from her beauty, but the fashion in which you have drawn it in regards to the design of her face makes it feel natural, and does not draw away from it at all.
I just thought that this effect was strange, since in general the addition of the third eye (or subjection of one eye) on a character can cause the "uncanny valley" effect, where the character fills all the other requirements for beauty, but only a small differences ends up making them repulsive. This did not happen to Matilda. Whether intentional or not, well done there. She's one of my favorite characters just because of that very mystery.
I'd love to see some of the original character design hashing, crumpled pages of trying to get her right.

I do not understand why Matty is uncomfortable with herself. She has a marvelous figure, she is 90% nude most of the time (and still manages to keep a child friendly appearance), she is a boob man's dream... and I could keep going but I shouldn't.
Still Matty's hood in my opinion perfectly frames her face which is what hair should do.

I don't think it breaks the rating at all; it's fairly subtle what Dan is thinking (TBH, I didn't figure it out until I read the bit where you said you'd already made a boob joke at Matilda's expense...)
And it looks like it would be a cute scene if you finished it... not that that's saying much, since msot of your scenes are cute.

Abel's panty shot was way less PG than this. I didn't even get that she was talking about breasts until you explained it.
Also while I'm happy it doesn't fall prey to gratuitous sex and violence in the self-indulgent way that Jack did, you've proved you can do it very tastefully in Abel's story and I wouldn't care if the PG limit was broken.

PG is rather liberal in what can be depicted actually. PG-13 even more so. http://www.spike.com/video/pg-porn-.....ul-bus/3130264
I had reservations about Matilda until this story line, where she went ahead and nested herself in as on of my favorite characters once she got some good screen time. Granted, you tend to only make likable sorts.
Still, definite <3 for Matilda, and in this scraped comic too.

XD Amber, I've been following your comic for a few years now, and I can say that you've made jokes of this nature before without stretching it. It's well-veiled, for an adult joke. Kudos. I love your work, always have, and even the least funny of the DMFA series has gotten a chuckle from me. The funniest... Well... I'm sure that once I nearly laughed my head off. Thankfully, the bolts held it there...
Anyhow... Keep up the wonderful work! I look forwards to each of your updates with excitement.

Heh, it's a great strip. Love it.
It's also a great insight into your comic process. You seem to follow the trend of: Have major plot points planned well in advance and the general direction of each scene before you start it; but somewhat improvise each strip as you sit down to do it.
