Hopefully it'll let you go as it tries to avoid inhaling the smell. This is why it's always recommended for knights/adventurers/etc to eat lots of curry before setting out on expeditions where there may be monster encounters.
Carrying a torch or other source of fire can also be used to light them in emergencies, providing a quick (if somewhat unpredictable) method of attack.
Monsters within a 10 ft radius take 5d6 fire elemental damage, with any 1s being rolled causing the player to take 1d6 fire elemental damage and losing all the hair on their butt.
