Nova shifted into a werewolf...
normally she's just a quad.. arctic wolf. However she does have a 'were' form, and this is it :D (as close to anthro as i'll ever be!)
i reworked this sooo many times.. the anatomy.. the pose.. trying to figure out how I want to represent my ideal were form. I think i mostly got it, although there's a few anatomy things that still bug me.. will try to hammer them out in the next image..whatever that will be ;}
Wanted her to be equally comfortable running on both 4 and two legs, without standing right up and "jogging" the way a human runs (oh lord don't get me started on jogging werewolves)... ahhh anyways.

Pardon me for jumping in, I don't really see it to that extreme, but I think perhaps if the very back part of the tail's hairs were drooping more downward that would show more gravity, but it didn't seem like a jarring thing to me at all. But at least in that way the tail has a difference between structure and air (at the tip where there's no structure)
yeah, that could help. was just now looking at these guys http://ae.imcode.com/en/images/wolf3-1.jpg and while the very end does droop a little, it might have been better if i'd made the hairs in the middle of the tail, on the bottom, longer? and more droopy...
however i'm far too lazy to go back to fix any of it XD worth discussing, tho :}

I guess it isn't so much the head itself, as much as the neck. It looks very much like a quadruped neck to me, if you know what I mean. Very long and thick. From an anthro point of view, one would expect to see at least a little varying in the width of the neck, as in a slope from the back of the skull where the neck itself is, and broadening as it extends into the upper body. But it could also just be your particular brand of were-form, and might just be me. :P Hope you don't mind my criticism!
Head is just fine as it is, wouldn't be changing a thing. :)
Center of balance is far forward of the hips, however, without the tail mass to counterbalance such a forward posture.
It's hell to pull it off, honestly, being anatomically realistic (balance distribution wise) and visually appealing both at the same time. :)

I have been trying to get artists to understand this mode of transportation *forever*. My own creature is habitually bipedal, able to stand and walk upright like a human but is much more comfortable and natural on all fours. Bipedalism is great for keeping your forepaws free, but since it's just an adapted movement, running bipedally is hard to translate into a picture. ;p I hope you'll explore the motions more so I can mooch off of your genius. ^..^
Actually I'd love to get you into a discussion on werewolf "jogging." I mean I'm also of the mind that a werewolf should be more comfortable running on fours than bipedal (hence digitigrade legs, afterall). Was just curious as to exactly what you meant. Are you talking about the limits of a blended anatomy?
Its wonderful! And I do agree Sundasyr, though, and I know I am not the best to judge anatomy, but possible straightening the back and changing the angle from a little below horizontal to a little above. This comes from playing football though. And looking at your pic it reminds me a lot of that. So maybe like this sort of position, but suited more to fit you. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2216.....3036e6515a.jpg
Otherwise it is breathtaking!

That's pretty damn cool. Very nice.
Fur is very gorgeous, and I really like the varying densities. The footpaws are excellent, I'm curious how your oriented the handpaws, but though they're obscured the pose is very emotive.
Also the facial expression is terrific. Excellent 'were' representation.

Heh, yeah there is a lot to this image to look over and analyze. The detail of the fur, the anatomy choices, the elegant style of the character (which I feel mass media has lacked in lately, making werewolfes seem dirty and un-graceful) Again, you really did a superb job here.
