Can I still draw machines after all this time? Check :)
I now present the kiriban for my 2000th FA pageview, again with a transit-oriented theme (those LED signs make it convenient). This time around, pageview #2000 occurred while I was at work, so this one actually appears with 2006 hits on the meter. Just fine for the last days of '06, no?
Cynthia gets the honor of spotting the milestone, this time on the front of one of NYC Transit's compressed-natural-gas powered buses (an Orion 07.501 CNG for any bus buffs out there). Think I got it right? Here's the real thing.
Technical: Cynthia is brush-inked, the bus and backdrop were done with Rapidiograph pens. Once in the digital realm, I experimented with transparencies, chiefly on the front of the bus. Except for the license plate, garage logo (the round emblem between the front door and first window), and the shield (which warns that you can do a 7-year stretch in the pokey for assaulting a bus driver), which were culled from various sources online, everything on the bus was drawn in Micrografx Picture Publisher with a combination of freehand and straight-line tools.
The location, if you're familiar with The Bronx, is modeled after the West Farms Road area where it meets Westchester Avenue, looking east across the park toward Hoe Avenue (yes that's a real street name)
