This is an idea I have for a comic!
I have noticed in the newspaper comics and whatnot that pets are a recurring theme, because what could be more hilarious than your own pet to a cartoonist who has to keep a deadline? Not how they're doing it, apparently. I'm sure that beneath the stereotypes, molds and static images that there's still something funny to be found in animals that are owned by people. And why not take it a step further, and give them a voice and two legs to stand on, and two hands with which to play video games? And of course, if all else fails, I could delve into very much non-petlike issues.

I was gonna go into a long comment about how this has been done a hundred times, but what the heck, this is just too cute. ;) I'd read it! Your characters are certainly a whole heck of a lot cuter then the ones in Get Fuzzy, Garfield, or a few other cat related comics I've seen. Though you might have a hard time beating Cigarro and Cerveja.
I think animals work really nicely in comics because you can exaggerate their features and you can even play up species rivalries and traits that people 'get' without insulting anyone. Or you can play against type too with even funnier effects.
In any case I think this has the makings of a really nice comic :)

You should see my Pepper, hyperactive bouncing rubber ball that NEVER stops.
Like the energizer bunny, she just keeps going and going and going. When I first got the kitten from the shelter I swore she never slept for the first week here. NEVER. o_o all night long all i was hearing was crash bang n omfg XD now today as a year n a half old kitty, she's still the same hyper bouncing ball, and she does do some stuff that's really quite funny
One thing's for sure. It is a cat, who won't meow. She CAN meow, but she doesn't. She prefers to squeak, and then most of the time she's silent... until she runs- then it just sounds like a heard of buffalo running around!

This is one comic that the world really needs. ^^ I mean it's funny, cute and innocent.
Yet I can imagine that some people here would probably want to see peanut butter & grape jelly sandwich... in which case drawing them eating real sandwiches would be only proper thing to do but that would seem more like an april fool's sorta thing especially if you tweak the thumbnail.
Anyhow hoping to see more of these two. I guessing that they are both male(although Grape.. well it's a pet name) not that it matters or even comes up unless you have them wooing pets of their species and of opposite sex during a walk or something. Which would naturally end humorously. :3

Humble beginnings to what would soon evolve into one of, if not the best web comic I would ever read. Even causing me to join the community. Thank you so much for Housepets, Rick. The positive impact this series has and continues to have on my life is near impossible to describe.
