This was mostly an experiment. I was able to watch a concept artist create a digital painting recently, and I thought his method was pretty interesting. He started by just throwing down blobs and basically seeing what came out of it, no lines, and in black and white, adding color later. So, since I usually do sketching and lines and then color, I thought it might be interesting to try this other way of drawing.

It was more successful in some ways than others, but it was interesting to try it.
