I had to wait on some things to dry before I could continue work on the possum. I went ahead and got a head start on my next project.
I never liked foam horns. or the vinyl horns, or... well. I am picky. So I kinda stole this idea from
artslave sorta... it's really my own interpretation of a similar technique.
Essentially I stack wood coins around an armature. I liked this because it was not so rigid it would break if it where to have a hard impact. I could keep weight down too, well depending on what I used. As of right now the 2 horns weigh under 2 pounds.
Granted, I am far from done. This is the bare bones of the idea. So, while input is always appreciated, I have a master plan I have not yet disclosed. You might want to wait and see on this one. this is only step one.
It may be a tad to laborious if you where to try it without the right tools. You can't really do it without at least a good scroll saw, dremel, soldering iron, wire cutters.. and so on. So, why it may not be a practical solution for the masses, I think it is a very promising technique for those who have the means.

These are for horns or a tail? This is an excellent idea so far XD
Don't forget to give them a good covering if this is your core- my horns took a battering before I put a resin coating on them, and now they're indestructable with only an extra 10 ounces of weight. :d
