So I already posted pictures of both of these tails before, but whatever. I like this picture. Also, I'm out of town and forgot to bring my camera so can't post pictures of the little things I'm making.
The left tail is mostly blackened stainless steel, with a stripe down the top in standard stainless steel and heat-colored nickel-plated mild steel. (Since the heat-colored scales are no longer produced by the supplier, I can't make any more of these.)
The right tail is mostly yellow brass, with an aluminum underbelly.
I am almost always happy to take commissions for these things. Check out my Tail Ordering Guide: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2485549/

Well, it's an expanding tube of scales that you build from the tip to the top. The expansions look like this: http://theringlord.com/images/produ.....actionback.jpg
The weave on its own tends to fold up and get all ugly, so I've over time worked out a system of interlocking rings in the middle that makes sure it stays round. I put extra rings linking through the rings that weave the scales together, with a few different convoluted patterns that I'm kind of jealously guarding partly because I think it's more fun and meaningful if you figure out the little tricks on your own.
If you wanted a general guide to making chainmail, I guess I could give you that too.

Well, actually I only have 1. I've made a lot of them, but almost all were for commission, so I don't have them around any more. I usually have one that I made for myself personally, but eventually I'll make another one and sell off that one, so I kind of rotate through different styles myself.
