Bio: Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Gustav Aberg is a airline pilot for the Swedish airline Williamfly, a decorated MD-11 operator flying since 1990.
He rose to fame in 1997 when he prevented a group of hijackers of Russian origin from taking over his plane while flying from Uppsala, Sweden to Warsaw, Poland. Using his MD-11 as the ultimate weapon, he flipped the plane onto it's back and nose dived to help fighting passengers fend over sub machine gun armed ultra-nationalists. Although injuring nearly everyone on the plane to some degree, he received an award for bravery for his actions in disarming the attackers.
Gustav is fluent in his native tongue of Swedish, and can speak fluent English, German, and Portuguese. This portrait of Gustav was taken in August of 1997, following the accident; he was age 34.
