KCRAVENYOTE , looking thoughtful. 3"x4" , watercolor, gouache, colored pencil on watercolor paper. Added the little white textures to add some atmosphere, its not really supposed to be snow or anything.
Finally catching up on my owed art after that crazy anthrocon/end of school rush. Eesh.
Oh, and for the record, in case people missed it this is what I will have at anthrocon in the art show (Assuming my package gets there on time 8|) :

Because I see people list using like 5 different materials on stuff and it comes out with this amazing texture and everything, and I RLY want to learn how to do that. I know how to use watercolor and acrylic and ink and pencils kind of, but not all together to look so amazing.
Ah! I see :)
I questioned you because sometimes people have this misconception that artschool will make you into an amazing artist. Artists such as Adam Hughes (http://www.justsayah.com/) have never went to an art school- they taught themselves everything!
To answer your question, I currently attend a program in college for people who want to become illustrators. So yes, I go to an art school but have been self taught up to 2007 if you want to get specific. But many of the students in the program still aren't what the majority would call "amazing artists" even after 3 years of the program. The secret is it all comes from you! Now, im not denying that art school doesn't help, but If you dont apply yourself and practice nothing will come out of it. For instance, we had a few anatomy classes with good pointers, but I had to practice on my own to get any good.
So long story short, what I mean to say is you can teach yourself these things- all you need are books, time and dedication :) I draw a minimum of 8-12 hours a day on my days off from work. Art is hard, you really have to keep at it. I guess I'm in art school because I like working in an environment with other artists and teachers.

Yea, its rly shallow of people to think that school just magically makes you an amazing artist. I intend to go so I can learn new ways to work with the talent I have. Mind you, I don’t have the time to dedicate THAT much to my art right now unfortunately, but I do put as much time and dedication into it as I can. I guess I’ll have to do some tutorial surfing and learn how to mix and match my materials. I hope to be somewhere near as good as you and the other greats here on FA someday. ^_^
