A commission from
dogsoul
I thoroughly enjoyed working on this the last few months and am terribly pleased with how it turned out (and so is Dogsoul, I'm happy to report).
The cart is a roaster, a larger version is usually seen behind American Saddlebreds, Hackney Horses, Morgans, and some of the other more flashy fine harness horses; the smaller ones, like this one here are usually pulled by Hackney ponies and American Shetlands (which is what this little fella is). They're a pretty smart-looking turnout and definitely turn heads when cruising around.
Of course that is entirely lost on the driver of the sportscar (Audi R8).
Painter X on "Cool" paper with various Oil Pastel tools (mostly Chunky).
This is just a fraction of the working size, I'll probably upload details later.

Thank you for your wonderful comment. The idea for the piece really does go to
dogsoul, I was merely the brush. It does help that it flows a bit along the lines of the Resistance pieces I did last year.

Time to comment for real. ;)
This...is amazing. Purely AMAZING. I knew the instant I thought of it that you'd do it justice and you have...in fact you've way exceeded expectations on this. The detail is phenomenal...I keep gawking at the large version and pointing at individual buckles or the curb chain or the adorable braids and squealing in delight! The emotion that is conveyed is wonderful, the stress and fear and anger shown by both the pony and the driver...amazing.
Technically it's a true work of art as well! Compositionally superior, I love the movement and "flow" of it, really drags the eye around. And of course like always your equine anatomy is spot-on! The tension in the pony is tangible and really wonderful...and the face!!! I can't decide which I like more, the pony's face or the pony's reflection. Both are excellent!!!
I've also been kindof using the wip-shots of this as inspiration for the creation of my Butterscotch 'sona, and I must admit this piece has really helped me cope with some very serious issues. I'm really, REALLY grateful you were willing to take this commission on, it has been a real pleasure and treat to see it from start to finish!!! Thank you so much!!!

Allow me a moment to bask in your lavish praise. It makes me terribly happy and definitely strokes the ego knowing that you're so pleased with it. I admit that I don't quite know how to correctly respond to such praise so I'll do my best *grin.* I'm excited to know that it managed to exceed your expectations (which I'm sure must have been high!) and I was able to do the idea justice. It is an awesome idea, by the way, did I mention that before? A lot of it spoke to the Resistance series I did last year and it was exciting to be able to revisit that spirit of work which was so invigorating and inspiring.
I'm glad to know that seeing the piece come together and the finished work itself has helped you. I know art can be a powerful thing, but I don't think I ever really considered that mine could reach that level. Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to do this work.
And you're most welcome, I'd be happy to do it over and over again!
