The midsummer sun shone lazily in the sky, as he exited the gym. Sighing, he walked to the parking lot outside, mulling over the events of the past week. Chris’ oldest friend ticked him off earlier by leaving him out of his group of friends vacation plans. Most of the frustration was worked out in the gym, he wanted an escape, and a week at the shore would have more than remedied it.
Hopping into his car, he drove up to a small state park, consisting of vast meadow, adjoining a small horse ranch. Beyond the field and ranch stood an ancient forest, one of those untouched by humans, and it was relatively unknown. He went to a pavilion in the fenced-in area of the park and sat on a provided bench.
Cheated, was probably the best way to put his feelings, he would have gladly gone with them, but the only phone call he received was from the turnpike, and by then too late. As he prepared to dial Dave and give him a piece of his mind, he was distracted by a soft thud to his right. As he looked he saw lying beyond the stone foundation of the pavilion, a small red apple. He looked for the person who threw it, and found nobody there. No cars in the lot, no joggers on the field, on the far off he could only spot horses milling about in the pasture.
Suddenly feeling hungry, Chris stepped out and picked up the shiny apple. He inspected it for soft spots or insect activity. Finding none he sunk his teeth into it. After swallowing it had a bizarre after taste, like a combination of sugar and straw? He scratched his head and looked the apple over again.

This was done a looooong time ago, towards the end of may when I decided to re-teach myself how to do equines. I probably should have studied more.
