It's a little like the comic I did about 12 years ago, Beatrix. Although she was a girl to start with, and got her superpower(s) -- just invulnerability -- in an accident of sorts, not a lab experiment. After became invulnerable she needed a job and looked in the paper to find an ad rather like the one in your story.
