This took... two, possibly three weeks for me to finish? I sketched it in non-photo blue first and then went over it in pencil. Original is large... 11 x 17. It took so long because I just did it in pieces here and there between work and other projects.
Today, after waking up feeling like crap and finally mustering enough strength to sit at my desk, I told myself to hell with it... this is getting DONE. Or the linework anyways. Oh yes. I do plan to color this. I just don't know when I'll get the time.
Scanning this in and aligning it hurt my poor brain too. Too many lines. So much editing. Guh.
So yeah. Horse Feather with some companions. It's hard to tell which butterflies, but there's (from left to right): Spring Azure, Monarch, Canadian Tiger Swallowtail and Clouded Sulphur. Some of my favorites.
The flowers... they're gladiolus, apple blossoms, wild roses (pink) and daisy. They have meaning, which is partially why I chose them out of the bazillion of choices. So lets see:
Gladiolus: preparedness, strength, splendid beauty and love at first sight.
Apple Blossoms: love, youth, beauty and happiness
Wild Rose (Pink): happiness, elegance, grace, admiration, fun, and sweetness
Daisy: purity, innocence, loyal love, beauty, patience and simplicity
And I added in the Latin on a whim. For those curious, it (should) mean "of like kind". Cause, you know... she does have lunar moth in there. Somewhere. Makes sense, right? Right.
Bonus to this too is that I got to test a new technique for cleaning up my pencil work in Photoshop. I may use this to test an new way of inking too.
I'm really, really addicted to doing Art Nouveau-style stuff now too. Although I'll probably NOT do too many of this detail too often. ^^;
This will be dumped into scraps once I get a colored version done.
