Yeah, they're awesome. Really hard to care for though so I don't blame you. I like old world snakes better but I have enjoyed the company for a red tail before. ^^
That's really strange. o.O I wonder why? I guess people just like pattern morphs better. I think natural patterns look awesome, but I love my tiger <3

Blood pythons are little shits. XD So cool and I'd love to have one but I've never met an adult you can hold. You can hardly touch them! XD So pretty though. And they can eat rabbits when they're full grown because they get so fat <3
Eh, any snake over 6 feet is dangerous and any snake over ten feet can kill you if it wants. At 10+ feet you should always have another person in the room when handling/feeding/etc just in case. <3
And ball pythons are awesome! They're so chill and make awesome necklaces. ^^

I'm a firm believer in the idea that frequent handling as a baby will even out the temperament of most, if not all snakes. That's why I don't buy adults unless I've handled them before.
Well my rat snake isn't gonna kill me or 50 lb pit bull, even if he breaks the species norm and breaks to 7 or 8 ft. I concern myself more with the -width length ratio than the length itself. That being said, anything over 8 ft is out of my current comfort zone. I want the rtb to be the first snake out of that range, since they're relatively docile and easy to gather information on.
Yeah, I love my lil ball python. He's a sweetheart. He has his pissy moments, but once he misses he chills out and lets me pick em up again.

Haha! lol
Yeah, I don't even get how pythons and shit eat deer. I mean, I know they don't have to eat for like a year after that but how does it all fit!? D:
I would be afraid to feed my retic anything bigger than a small feeder goat and that would keep him happy for over a little over a month! XD

Rats won't work. They'll be waaaay to small after a while, even if you're doing several feedings (Which isn't the best for your snake. You'd have to feed them like, every two days if you were just feeding them rats when they're full grown. That would get expensive! XD). You've got to move up to rabbits after a while. Rabbits are more of a bi weekly thing. The only time I'd even do a feeder goat would be if I was going away for long enough that the snake would get hungry while I was gone and I'd rather not have my house sitter feeding a snake so large. It would be best for them to just feed the other animals and be on their way and not have to worry about the 20 foot long snake in the other room. XD
I see. I still wouldn't recommend it. You'd have to buy a LOT of rats and it's probably pretty stressful on a snake to have to strike and kill that many rats in one sitting, swallow them all, and then have a ton of lumps in it's belly. I mean, think about how BIG a full grown retic is.

At least that big, and some can get bigger. (I think that one is around 17 or 18 feet. Some don't max out until 20 or 23. Record length was 33 feet but you hardly ever seen anything longer than 25) The sheer girth of that snake is HUGE! It would take way too many rats for it to be logical to be feeding one rats only. I bet that snake eats a rabbit every week easy. ^^

I don't think it's a matter of them preferring it just oppertunity. The chance of finding a freshly killed rat in the wild is almost nil so they wont come across them.
Common sense tells you that a snake would prefer to eat the animal with the least amount of risk in getting injured, considering even small injuries could prove fatal in the wild.
It is not a cruel act in nature as there is no other way but in a captive domestic situation where access to frozen animals the snake will readily eat, allowing a rat to be constricted to death IS indeed exceptionaly cruel when there IS an alternative

See I just don't agree. (So I guess we'll have to agree to disagree ^^)
Mice(rats, rabbits) are food. That's their purpose on this planet. So I wouldn't torture one just for fun, or go around killing them, but snakes eat mice and mice expect to get eaten. They eat, breed, get eaten by other animals. That's how I see it. Doesn't mean I hate mice, and I think they're cute. But I don't think feeding mice to my snake is cruel.
