DRAWING AND PAINTING FANTASY BEASTS

From Minotaur, page 72.
It took me 15+ hours of drawing and redrawing to get everything right. I beefed him up and changed the shading a bit. And i think that it made for some great results on my end. I sold the original artwork for like $20 cash. So ya, I am really proud of how well i did on this.

the partial fur rendering works nicely on this piece, however as im always told ya cant just like it, ya gotta know why soooo incoming critique!
as with most all mythical creatures theres a lot of imagining, the muscles done quite well and shows nicely through the surface skin textures, however dont forget! if hes got muscular arms hes gunna have muscular legs too. skinny legs are usually something that needs to be played up in these beasts especially ones with naturally thin legs on the real life animal in order to create realism (since the animal is usually on 4 legs and this creature is on 2 he would naturally have more muscle than the RL creature.) aside from that though the praportion looks pretty good.
nice piece overall!

It looks pretty good. ^^
But since you asked for a critique~
The nose seems like it should come out alitte farther, it seems abit flat.
The jaw behind the ear could've came out alittle farther too, to make it seem stronger.
The horn closest to us isn't at quite the right angle, it would be coming out more at us, right now it looks like it's lying across his forhead.
The wrist on the far arm seems abit too thick, although that may be because of the fur.
The leg closest to us isn't thick enough right before the ankle joint, and is still alittle too skinny after the ankle.
The leg farthest from us.. based on the placement of the hoof, it would look better if the knee was going "away" from us more.
But other than thoes anatomical fixes, the shading is for the most part great, although I would've liked to see more on the ear, and not so harsh of outlines on the hands.
Great job! ^^

ty, ya i am not really that great at this yet. I only have 1 art class. This is something i did to keep my mind occupied out at "school." Had the book right in front of me the whole time. I plan on getting a new printer scanner combo so that i can get more pics uploaded with decent quality. Also going to get more art suplies such as a manikin for both male and female anatomy, full range (9b -8h) graphite pencils, LOTS of blending stumps and kneaded erasers, and a few other odds and ends.
