Here's the WIP photos of the puppet project I started more than a year ago. Finally, after being put on hold for so long, I decided to finish it.
Here’s a couple different angles:
- Wes and Junior http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4738014
- Wes http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4687468
"Wes" is a Haashondje, yet another creature from my fictitious Planet Kanofis. The communicator he wears (a custom mash-up with adjustable blinking/strobing LEDs) allows him to talk through his O.A.F. (Walkabout Puppeteer). The Omni-functional Autonomous Facilitator, or "Oaf" for short, wears the corresponding communication receiver so it can translate through its vocal outputs.
He was originally conceived as a supporting character to be used in my capstone college film. It's been shelved for now since I decided to go with another script idea. Thus, his being incomplete for so long. I designed his mouth for expression as a ("Kermit" style) hand puppet. there's a slot for my hand behind his hips that covers up to my elbow. The O.A.F. has a false arm that hugs around his waist for an improved illusion (Same technique I used for Jak & Erik: http://d.facdn.net/art/stitchfan/12.....art_i_copy.jpg ).
Eyes = Painted Ping-Pong Balls
Fur = Wal-Mart Remnant/scraps
Skeleton = Wire/Plastic scraps
Mouth = Craft Foam
Nose/pawpads = faux leather upholstery fabric
Liner = Scrap cotton fabric
Communicator = Headphone case, LED assembly, Shoe-lace, scrap wire/plastic
+Pro Puppet Rod
+Stuffing

...And his O.A.F. is probably a bounty hunter: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4738014/
Wow that's really good, is this your first attempt at making a puppet because if it is then just wow, and if not still wow. I have been working on a puppet myself he's been in the works for about oh 2 years now and damn it hes still not done I'll get to work on that right now. hope to see more puppet stuff from u. :)
Here's another couple of pics for this one:

I fumbled over this guy for a year+ myself.
He's not "technically" my first puppet, as I've done some terribly cheap nasty-looking ones in the past out of cardboard/craft-foam.
This is my first professional-grade puppet using actual cloth and fur. ^__^
Building these things is addictive! And their way cheaper and easier than making fursuits (often more animated and fun to watch perform too).
Hope to see yours when done!

I would love to do a puppet commission.
Please see my commission page here for rules and info:
FA journal - http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2466301/
DA journal (with thumbnails) - http://stitchfan.deviantart.com/journal/35245417/
Once you look that over, send me a note letting me know the size, type, colors, and details of the puppet.
I'll give you a price quote from there. ^__^
