"She got eyes that cut you like a knife
and lips that taste like sweet red wine
And pretty legs go to heaven every time
She got a gentle way that puts me at ease
When she walks in the room I can hardly breathe
Got a devastating smile knock a grown man to his knees
She got whatever it is
It blows me away
She's everything I want to say to a woman
but couldn't find the words to say
She got whatever it is
I don't know what to do
Cause every time I try and tell her how I feel
it comes out "I love you"
You got whatever it is."
-Whatever It Is by The Zac Brown BandLeaves change. You can always depend on that. Sometimes the hues aren't as vibrant as they were the year before, sometimes, they're better. Sometimes it happens early, sometimes late. People say it can depend on anything from temperature to the amount of rain we had in a year. I don't know.
I like that leaves change. I like the colors. It gives me something to smile at. The college campus is gorgeous during the fall. Other students rush around me, trying to get to a class they probably damn near slept through, but I'm on time. No hurry. I've got time to enjoy the view.
"Arrow!"
I hear the voice from across the quad...near the Humanities building, and it makes me both want to wag my tail and drop it into the dead leaves under my paws.
I don't like that people rarely change. When it could be for the better, anyways.
I turn around and give her a smile. I'm a dog, I aim to please. And...even though I know she pretty much used my good nature to get a good grade on the group project...I'm happy to see her in a way.
"Hi, Joe," I reply, tugging on my backpack nervously with my left hand. I damn near want to ask her what she needs my help on, but I bite my tongue. It's not like me to be snarky unless I have to be.
I don't even think I saw the motion. All I know is one minute I moved of my own will, next, I moved of hers. Looking down, I notice there's a fleece scarf around my neck...a fabric rainbow.
"You guys from the south never know how to dress during the cold months," she says rather thoughtfully...thoughtfully? "No wonder southerners are always complaining about the weather."
That's right...I'd forgotten my own scarf. I'd been too enthralled with a creative writing assignment the night before...didn't wake up with my "A game", that's for sure.
She looks at me for a moment, and her eyes aren't crafty. They aren't hiding. She's happy to see me. She's not asking for help.
"Uh...I got an A on the essay you gave me advice on," she informs me, shifting back and forth, her delicate white paw digging into the leaves. She must have ran by his office first thing this morning. Apparently she does care about passing with a good grade. She begins to wrap the scarf around my neck for me. I can't stand her little game anymore, so I make a move by pressing my nose against hers.
"What do you want, Joe?"
She's quiet for a minute, and I feel bad instantly. But she starts to smile, almost apologetically. "I want to make sure you'll be warm. Weather Channel said it might snow today. You need a scarf."
"But what about you?" I ask. Yeah, I don't know why I'm always concerned with other people either.
She shakes her head as she starts to pull tighter on the scarf again, straightening it out around my neck. "I'd be a pathetic excuse for a sled dog if I couldn't keep myself warm in what you guys refer to as "snowfall"."
Joe begins to walk away, and I yell after her this time. "Hey! What about your scarf! It's Friday, you might need it over the weekend!"
"Keep it! It adds some flare to that flannel shirt of yours," she mocks me playfully as she jogs back towards the Humanities Building. I blush as I look down at the scarf she gave me after I can't see her clearly anymore.
I continue my walk to class, looking at the leaves...but it's a little more philosophical now. She was genuine...she gave me something without asking for anything in return. There's no catch. I blush even deeper than my reddish fur and get what I know is the goofiest smile ever on my face when I think that maybe my feelings towards her aren't stupid after all.
Leaves are simple...but they manage to change. Then people should be able to also, right?"
My half of a trade with arrow~farfetch of her character, Arrow, the duck tolling retriever and Joe, the samoyed/husky mix. Yay, lesbians. My gallery was going through a serious lesbian drought. Hopefully, this made up for it.

I hate to admit it, but I thought the same thing myself up till I read the end of the text that accompanied the piece. I think it was the fact that her name is Joe that threw me. Either way, I thought it was a nice change of pace. Normally you've got the Star Wars stuff and the Okari-Ragnarok storyline stuff going and this was a pretty interesting scene and I thought the college setting for the story made the piece work well. The chibis put it over the top on cute, and it worked. Hope to see more.
Arrow, I should have known you were involved somehow as soon as I read "duck-trolling retriever."
Nuzzly lesbians are adorable. ^_^ We need more art like this in the fandom-- it's so sweet and there's a cool sense of movement from the leaves. (I'm also biased, of course, by this evidence that I'm not the only furry who listens to country music!)

Yay! Cute girly arts!! This makes me so happy; there aren't enough tasteful, cute girlxgirl themed art pieces in the world. Squee <3 This is positively adorable. I love the heart created in the artwork, and the little chibi versions of the characters. The fall foliage and background came out spectacular. I love their expressions too >w<
You know, you aren't the only one who has said something like that about the stuff I post. I think a lot of folks do the girl on girl thing just to grab attention. I love women, and I have forever said that I could easily be with a girl...in fact...normally, it's my preference...I just happened to find an exception to that rule and married it lol. I'm honored you like this lesbian oriented piece.
Thanks so much I truly appreciate the thoughtful comment.

My thoughts exactly--it's almost never drawn with real 'feeling,' it's almost always drawn just as fap material :C Which is swell and all, I do like me some ladies, but it puts a bad name on women, and women that love women. I normally prefer women aesthetically and find them pleasing to look at, though I have a boyfriend. You're so welcome! I just hope you draw more lady arts! :D
You continue to blow me away... I can personally attest to her inability to dress warm enough, but the strategy works in situations like this I guess. The whole composition is really well thought out and put together. Did you do this all on one sheet of paper or were the two characters and the bottom and the cropping of the circle done later? It looks so natural I can't tell.
I didn't read the entire description, but I saw this in my messages and just had to comment.
OMG! This is SOOOO PRETTY! I love the giant heart with their faces. It's so sweet. I love their expression and how it looks like the one character is blushing. The coloring is lovely. The trees! And the details on the clothing. OO" Having chibi versions of them on the side is just adorable! lol.
I would love to get something similar to this of my fiance and my characters. Would you be willing to tell me how much it would cost as a commission?

Awww, sorry for the late comment, girl...been playin' catchup.
I'm so honored that you really like this. It was a fun and playful image to do, and I'm glad that Arrow gave me some freedom to work with.
Hmmmm, as for price, just note me what you wanted specifically and we can go from there. I'd love to do something for you guys again. I love your characters, and you're always a darling to work with!

It's remarkable what you do with facial expressions, Wielder.
You seem to put a lot of time into every aspect of this one.
And, the story was icing on top of a cliche romantic cake.
Well done. I'm sure
arrow~farfetch will approve.

Thanks so much. I really try to make the expressions look different. It's way too easy to get into a habit, but I've been trying to push myself into different directions with that.
I did put A LOT of time into it. Arrow has done so much wonderful art for me, so I really really tried to push a lot of work into this one.

I honestly cannot stop crying over this piece, Wielder and don't you dare apologize because of it! This picture is just so much and more to me in such ways I cannot possibly describe without sounding like a blithering knock off of a Shakespearean sonnet- so I will just express my deepest and most heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for something that encourages and keeps my hope afloat for this new life I'm embarking on.
GET IT, EMBARKING?
*cough*
But thank you, my darling sweet friend. Thank you for the time and level of meticulous detail you put into this- I can certainly feel the love with every stroke of pencil, pen and marker. You are so dear to me- art or not- and I am incredibly honored and privileged to know you as a friend and fellow artist. Thank you, my sweet Georgia Peach-
lonewolfsniper44 is certainly right

Awwww, I'm glad you like it that much, Arrow! Though I didn't want you to cry!
It's not an easy road to follow, from what I've been told. But I hope you'll find encouragement and support along the way. Happiness is something worth fighting for, though, right?

Okay, now I have to speak artistically-
This picture is like stepping into an actual reality. I get drawn into the scene (literally and metaphorically ) every time. The hues of fall and the atmosphere the season usually brings is captured perfectly here with the sweeping and well detailed leaves brushing about. Speaking on the leaves as well- the way you colored them to be softer or more out of focus is brilliant because it does not drown out the characters! I thought that was incredibly clever all around.
My expression, hairstyle and doggish good looks (<--- jk) and the way you wrote it from my perspective- I'd of been thinking and behaving exactly how you portrayed me which is sometimes difficult to interpret even if we've spoken in actuality. You hit it dead on, dearest and I sometimes drift into imaging this actually happened. I saw a rainbow scarf at a Target in my town last month and I was sorely tempted to get it- now I know I must.
I know you probably understand Joe's behavior better than I- but the way you've drawn and described her here is exactly my perception of her as well. A real beauty, guarded and strengthened by her past, but willing when the opportunity presents itself to do a little good. It's no wonder I'm so smitten <3 You've given her such features, mystery and awe like that of a mountain- intimidating and a force to be reckoned with at first glance- but once you're around it and know the terrain, the majesty is so overwhelming you can't help but fall in love
That's how...I am about mountains...anyway.... and nature in general I suppose
The heart around is so just too damn perfect- I never think I'm too into the mushy stuff, but seeing this I literally had this big dumb grin on my face as I cried a little because of how damn sweet and romantic it is...... realizing.... I'm also a total....sap x3
But I am so enthralled by this piece. This piece is just incredible my dear friend and I am so honored by it. It literally kept me going through work today and it was especially difficult today being pre-thanksgiving and all- but every time I got tired or I just felt sick of it, I shifted my focus back to this story and remembered it- day dreaming that made my work day fly right on by. Your portraits have the capability to do that, darling- I think if anyone's work can achieve that, they have an inner spirit deeper than what others may first perceive. Thank you for allowing that gift to come out through this work <3 Thank you so much. I know I can't possibly enough but thank you <3

Gah, girl, thanks for the thoughtful comment. I'm honored that you are that taken with the piece.
I really DID try to draw and write it from Arrow's point of view. Thankfully, I know you well enough to at least BS my way through that lol. I'm sure you could have done better, and feel free to write your own version of it, if you'd like!
Rainbow scarves are love. I have a thick one just like the one in this piece and a thinner one. I MUST wear them during the fall and winter or I feel naked.
I love what you've done with Joe's character. I know I've already told you that, but it demands repeating. Keep going, girl. I expect more stuffins from you!

Lol, I've found that if the character is not super-femme, folks automatically think it's a guy a good bit of the time. Hell, a lot of folks think Wielder (feral or anthro) is a guy even though she does have long hair...she's just not that feminine. I feel your pain.
Thanks so much. I wish there was more art of the lezzbean nature here too. I'll have to remedy that...

This is simply beautiful, one thing about it though, it's hard to pick out the background from the characters because they blend in a bit much.
I think making the background with a slight 'fuzzy' texture to give a sense of depth, giving full focus on the two characters.
Other than that, it's absolutely flawless and I admire your art skills!
Keep up the beautiful work!
