Just this comment alone should be opt for banishment.
How would you like to feel the same pain that this poor cat is going through? Not being able to keep your food down, suffering from fever and other terrible ailments?

you've obviously never seen a sick cat before... Cats with white fur get really "red" when they get sick or overheated (my cat is mostly white so I have seen this.) The blood comes to the surface of the skin and makes it appear brighter red...so any eye goo, or skin appears pink or red.
This is a legitimate problem, don't make fun of her, she is in a horrible situation. She's not just trying to get money. She's done free art in the past just because she's a nice person! She's been on here for 2 year producing art, and she's mentioned her cat multiple times. x.x This isn't BS sadly, it's a real problem.

Because some people have nothing better to do with their miserable lives but to make sure others feel just as awful and useless as they are.
Ignore them. They'll amount to nothing in life, where as this life depends and loves you, therefore, making you infinitely more important then they are.

I do try to ignore them... thank you... I think the amusing part is how many people are standing up for me without me even asking. It's sweet of them. It makes me feel like if this happened face to face the one prick would have ten people wanting to beat the shit out of him. Heh... I can't deny that that would be amusing, and make me feel very loved.
Best part about this is that these people (if they should even be called such) wouldn't say this shit to your face, they are cowardly degenerate garbage that gets their kicks from making other people miserable (or attempt to).
I do feel for you, I can understand having a bond with an animal, being a zoophile, i feel it with all my pets. I would get a head drawing commission from you if there were any other way than paypal (i just don't like going through them, charging you money for transactions and such)

actually... there are laws that help protect animals that are part of your family vs pets here where I live. If your animal is family, it is treated as such by the government and so on. If it is a pet, like say chickens are, then they are given little to no thought.
My heart-felt condolences to you, Star. I understand how much one can love their pets, and can understand even more-so how heavily it would impact somebody should that part of their life become sick or ill.
It's a real shame that some people lack the common decency to keep their asinine comments to themselves, yet have the audacity to be offensive and abrasive during a time of hardship. I'm sorry you have to deal with such classless people. Humanity is a sinking ship, and this is exactly why.

I seen a link to this on one of my friends journals, and yes I may not know you, but that is truly some horrible news. Your cat will surely be in my prayers and in some way I hope the doctors find out whats wrong with her. Also maybe you are feeding her makes her feel sick. Maybe you should try a healthier and better brand of food. Anyways, I wish the best for your cat and I hope the worse doesn't happen... :(
thank you for your concern hon. She is on the best brand of food out there, no corn, wheat, soy or animal-by products. She's been on it most of her life. She never has canned foods - which no animal should have. The doctors already said it isn't anything she ate.

ok i got only halfway through the comments thinking WTF is wrong with you people. Seriously its not enough to think these horrible things that you have to project them on a worried sick owner? i understand your pain honey, i have 5 cats and one with a severe brain deformity that prevents him from walking. just a diagnosis alone for him was $80, on the positive side i have an amazing vet that gives me disscounts because how many animals i have lol. i don't want to be a downer but the same thing happened to one of my cats a while back, did you have her tested for feline leukemia? and i don't have much right now as i just payed my horse board but i can donate maybe 10, 15. You have my best wishes in hoping she gets well. and i will let everyone i know about your dillema.

Considering it is my roommates phone that takes the pictures there is no time stamp. I can make a video if that is what you desire. But I really feel I do not need to prove anything to you. I know dozens of people on FA, in real life, and they would back me up as well.
I have volunteered at a cat shelter for a long time, to help out cats because I couldn't donate anything. Fatawny is my dearest friend. I got her when she was 3 weeks old and I had to hand feed her. I had to use a wet cloth to make her potty because she couldn't go on her own. I have been there with her when she has been sick from other things, and so have my friends. She is my family. She is everything to me. All my animals are. I rescued her when she was a baby. Otherwise she would have been put down. I have rescued many animals in my life time. From baby crows, nursing them to health and releasing them. To endangered Kildeer, to sick rats and mice.

I can sub for star as well I visit her on an weekly basis she takes excellent care of all her animals with kindness and love. why should she have to prove anything to you the fact of the matter is that the cat needs medical help and shes asking everyone she can for help to raise for what needs to be done I personally want to help but not working right now is kinda hard to donate money. :(
I know Star personally (not like you'll care) and she is a wonderful owner. Her animals come first and foremost before anything. A lot of animals are in need and EACH deserves to be loved and helped! Really, theres no need for your words if they are going to be negative ones. People are doing their best trying to save a life, if you don't feel so inclined then refrain from posting. But, when I see, and I find a bit unsettling, is with several posts that involve a person informing Star that they cannot help. If they cannot, it is understood and accepted, the gesture of saying it creates an awkward, tense situation.
She doesn't have to provide you with proof, of anything, as there is no contract or expectation of payment agreed upon. If you were convicted towards helping, for whatever reasons, further discussions could be handled in IMs. I can vouch for Star as much as the next person, but as I understand, there is still lack of burden of proof. And people swarming together on the Internet isn't much credibility.
Everything dies, but not everything lives. There must be loss of life for life to continue, beyond the most basic forms of photosynthetic organisms. However, in this case the loss of life has no purposeful meaning. There is no immediate need for substinance that those around the cat would otherwise perish, or even marginally benefit from its death. The cat was not killed as an act of violence or other wise a direct attack (ie, dog attack, hit by car, kid with bad and anger problem ) And that's how it often is when losing a loved one to illness. There is no meaning, or reason, or logic.
That is me trying to offer some, if any insight into how, and why the cat's death is meaningful, and hurtful for Star. Thanks for the support.

I would hardly call it a waste of money to potentially save a life, even if it is one that you don't and may never know. If it comes to euthanasia, you should be able to go ahead with it even if you cannot afford it. If the vet you took her to will not do it, you need to report them and then find another vet. It costs money to euthanize a pet, but this is one procedure that most vets will do and take payment plans for. Your vet should be willing to take payment plans for all of the procedures, but at the very least they should for euthanasia.
If she reaches a stable point but needs more work, you could consider researching to see if there are low-cost veterinary practices in your area. There are often clinics specifically designed to care for animals that belong to people who cannot pay normal vet prices. You may also be able to discuss your financial situation with the vet you are with, and see if they will give you discounts.

The vet I go to is the only vet I've ever met that actually cares about the animal. The cheaper the vet, the rougher, more rude they are. When my old cat Polly was hit by a car and managed to make her way home, I went to a vet that was open 24 hours. Just for bringing her in they charged $90. Then to euthanize her they charged $200. On top of that, the vet kept causing her pain by shoving her around the table. I have seen many vets do this, I only trust my one vet. Yes she does offer me payment plans. And that is what all the donations will be going towards. I don't have a job, and am mentally unstable for several reasons, and am unable to keep a job or get hired easily. I have been supporting myself by commissions and my roommate has been helping me too. Never in a million years did I think this would ever happen. She's barely four years old... she's still just a baby...

I don't know how much treatments will cost if she has something that's curable. Anything left over from what people donated will either be sent back to the donaters or I will give the money to my roommate who paid $400 towards the bills... I owe him so much.
Yea...I had to get my gall bladder removed. All the dr appointments and scans and stuff was really expensive...I have yet to get the bill for the actual surgery :/

There is nothing I can do other than +watch. I have not enough watchers to make any difference with a journal, and I have no way of paying anyone. The best of luck to you and your cat, but be warned... do not invest anymore money in this! So far it's been what? $800? Now I'm sure that it's worth it to you, it is your cat but... think about it... $800. Think if you put it all into your cat and it does no use... that's $800 down the drain! ...I'm not telling you not to invest more into this, but think long and hard about any future decisions, I know this from experience.

Anyone with a heart would. But anyone with a brain will also consider the facts. Now we all have hearts, and we all have brains, so let's do both these things. Now if it were my dog, or my mother, the ultimate objective would be to save them, and yes, even if there was a one percent chance. But I must first find that chance... and if it is not there, then there would be nothing I could do regardless of whether I spent the money or not. It saddens me to think about these things... I hope your cats alright, and I hope that a few of my relatives will be s will be alright. I just wish there was more I could do. And no... there reallly isn't all that much I'm capable of at this age. *sighs* I need a break from all this, life is starting to get at me again...

I disagree with your statement. My moms cat suddenly became ill but it was something treatable and not a chronic illness. 1500$ later and the cat survived, this is when he was 2 years old, he is now almost 10. There is a point when it does become too much, say if it was chronic, but if its something that needed some aggressive treatment but then the cat would be fine thereafter then its worth it.
I had a diabetic cat that I spent well over 3-4 grand on over the course of 2 years, eventually I had to put him down because regardless of what we tried it wasnt becoming manageable despite diet change, insulin injections, vitamins, etc..

That is absolutely ridiculous. It's a gamble someone like her is willing to take. If the cat survives, it was worth every penny. If the cat doesn't survive, she can at least rest easy knowing she tried her best. This is her baby, her best friend, not just some pet cat. $800 for the life of her cat is nothing. It may be hard to get, but it will be worth it. I paid around that much to have Dorito treated for an infection and illness. I wasn't sure if the infection had spread too far to be treated but it was well worth finding out.
I know the reward is worth $800 to her but I ask only that she consider the risk first. I do not oppose her taking the gamble, I just want her to be sure of her decidion. There is often a great amount of risk involved in things like these, and in these turbulent times, things may only get worse. Let's say the gamble doesn't pay off... two months later, something elsemay come up and you may then regret your decidion. But the same action cannot be done for everything. You must assess and act accordingly. This is what I advice, not to invest, and not to refrain, only to think twice, and make sure she's made a good decision in the long run. Now I have seen cases similar to this. There is a family which mine has been friends with since before I was evem here. Now they had a dog, and they kept putting hundred after hundred into this old dog until they racked up $2400! The dog passed away... and they were in major financial instability for the next 5 months. Now even if the dog had survived, what if they hadn't fared so well in the time afterward? What if they hadn't been so lucky? That is what a bid you consider...
Frankly, anyone who has to seriously consider attempting to save the life of an animal they own over kill it by doing nothing just to save the money in case a financial bind comes up should not own a pet. Period. Life is always risk, and anyone with a conscience and that owns the animal would try to help — it's the risk you take by owning a pet. If you would just as soon shoot the animal in your back yard as soon as it gets a head cold instead of pay for it, then don't get a pet. It's that simple.

Yeah... they are... they are heart breaking... they are cold... And they wouldn't be saying it if it was my brother or mother. But my cat is my baby. Is my little girl. Is like a daughter to me. My animals are my children. They are everything to me. And it's heart wrenching that people can't understand that.

I really do wish you luck, we have been in a similar situation a few years back. We had to come up with around 1,400 dollars, which was incredible to save an animals life. Even though what I said probably doesn't matter, as everyone else has said the same thing. I really do wish you the best, hopefully she comes through!
i can understand people being wary of those asking for money online, or even objecting to it, but it's a bit much to insult you and your pet. besides, it's my impression you are offering commissions as well. i don't think there is much to object to when something is being done in return. would you like to do a sketch or something similar for me at some point? i know it'll only be around $5, but i am hoping it all helps. i hope such a small amount does not seem offensive, but i am one of those people who has mixed feeling about such things, but still feels the want to help. i am not popular enough for a journal to be effective.
I came here from another journal posted about you, and this sucks so bad :( I just adopted a young kitty this year, and I can't imagine what it would feel like to have her get suddenly sick and not know what's going on :( I'm broke as heck right now, but if you're hurting still come February lemme know — my next refund check comes in for school and I'll be able to send some cash your way.

I am sickened by the trolling in this thread, but glad it is diminutive compared to the amount of support. Star is legit, she has several cats, but this is the only one in bad health, her other kittens are well. (I saw them last week.) Star is also a good person an needs genuine support.

I've known Star for a little over six years now, probably significantly longer than 90% of the people that have been piping up here in support of her. She's an animal person first and foremost. I've watched her tear her heart out over multiple pets, pushing herself to the greatest extent to save them and has come out on top as often as she's lost one of those loved family members. It's not in her not to try.

Reading almost all of the comments above, I have two things to state.
First off, everyone please stop feeding the trolls/assholes/dicks/retards etc etc. They are just smiling at the other end, because they know it affects you. At my current career, people spend their whole day trying to make mine worse. In thought, I have seen that these people have no other way of gaining respect, because they generally suck at everything else they do. They have no life to live except through their ways, which in time will make them miserable because honestly. No one, friends or family, wants to be around an asshole.
Second off, to star wonder. I feel the pain of your situation. It is truly a devastating matter to lose a family member, which I always believe a dog, cat, or any type of animal that you form a bond with. I once took care of an abandoned short hair cat. Can't name the breed, it might have been tabby, but I do remember the soft white fur, and the beautiful eyes. She stayed at our house, after her previous owners had left. I did everything in my power to take care of this feline. from using my personal allwance, and money from gifts to purchase food and water for her. I even attempted to create a makeshift shelter, with old blankets that I no longer used for myself, to giver her a place to stay during the colder days. Very long story short, I remember on a spring day, when I heard a faint meowing coming from my friends house. I made a trip over to his back entrance(as our houses were right behind eachother through the alley way) to see this cat I cared for, dying on the back steps of my friend's porch.
I have never felt pain like that before. Its so intense, and it leaves you broken for days, the most terrible part about it...Is that how much animals can love unconditionally. Sometimes we state that families can love uncoditionally, yet, parents expect their children to grow up to be like them. I was told by my own mother that I should try to be more like my older brother. I wrote her out a page, probably a little harsh, but nonetheless it gave my point.
No matter what anyone says, do not give in. You love your family very much(cats and your other animals), and I can see that. Hopefully the next bill will be easier on you. I can't help right now, but it will be seven days until I am paid, and if you need help once more. I will be happy enough to donate to save such a life.

We all breath, eat, or sleep. We all have something in common. Animals to me, all are special, and have families, and are families.

I know... My mom wanted me to just put her down... I didn't want to give up...
My cat Polly, who I had since I was 7, was my best friend. She was 16 when she was hit by a car and made it home. We took her to the vet, and she seemed okay mental wise. I wanted her to be stabilized, and to check for internal bleeding, the whole nine yards... But my parents wouldn't pay for that... They said because she was old. I cried so hard and I hated them so much for so long. She acted like a young cat, and was healthy... she even had the teeth of a 6 year old cat... I wanted to at least try... but I couldn't do anything because I didn't have enough money from my job... and my parents... well... *just sighs*
And now I have another update to post....
