Ahhh, but Erin is a clever little ratty (just don't call her "wee" or you'll see that Irish temper of hers!). Everyone knows that for the gift of the gab, you have to kiss the Blarney Stone, well, Erin's made it a little more convenient (and fun) for folks to do so; you only have to hang upside down if you want to!
This one took a smidge of re-doing; after I finished it up originally,
cougr was of the opinion she wasn't meaty enough. I did what I could to beef her up a bit more without completely erasing the image. I'll just have to throw more curves onto her next time.

The images vary massively for size, I work on sketchpads as small as 3"x5" and as large as 14"x17", though in general the full-sized finished images are done in either 8.5"x11" or 9"x12". I do a lot of layout and design work in 5"x8.5" books.
The trick with the feathering around the ankles, and in fact with anything else that's very detailed like that, is to remember that "less is more"; trying to draw in every detail will make it cluttered and inelegant. The fur is literally just a few squiggly lines that suggest that the fur ends there.
